Yeah I saw it being added as I was playing. As someone who mains a pet sorc though I'm not too excited about it, really don't need another flappy thing on my screen, even if it is quite small.

I got mine.

I love the way it looks, the fact that it actually looks like a bat (so many video game bats are overly dramatic) and is pretty small. I just assumed it would be about the size of the dragon pet but this is small enough that I don't think the flapping will bother me.

I called it Kit, after Kit Stoner, the Chief Executive of the Bat Conservation Trust.

Got the little one - and I love it so much !
It's one of my favourite pets. So cute, with nice animations, and a lovely size. And it fits the /summonbat emote, so I can have a pair of them !
My little Sir Battaglir will definitely be seen on adventures with me now and then.

And I'm so glad that the bat didn't get ruined by all the Dork Gothic Vampire blah stuff that is to come. It's a lively, lovely pet without any "sinister darkness" or whatever to it. Huzzah !

Um, is it just me, or is this pet not quite what you expected? I thought it would be black, or at least dark, and with long wings. Like, kind of creepy. Instead, it's gold and silver, tiny, and kind of adorable. I can't have my vampire necro assassin running around with a tiny adorable bat. It'll ruin my reputation.

Got mine on all 4 today (2 accts, both pc megaservers). I'm SO not into bats.... Well, actually, IRL I am as they're valuable for keeping the insect population in control. But.... *shrug*

I don't fancy most of the flying pets because they get in the way of my view, such as in outfit station.

I'm more ok with small ones like this bat, so thanks!

It was announced with picture what we would get, and the pet was already in the game as part of the dark brotherhood cave decorations. So you could see it in game before.

Also, do remember that colors are depending on lighting. something in bright day light might look very diff from in moonlight or cave light.

And why would it ruin your rep? You have the perfect spy fluttering around you. Sees well in dark places. Looks cute, but can bite pretty well, depending on if it a carrier of the vampiric illness. I see no reasons why not to have Squeeks around.

It won't ruin your reputation once enough people have seen it hang out near a mysterious murder victim, some blood splatter on its cute lil face. That said, while I appreciate a small bat, I was also really hoping for a bigger one with some nice wingspan.

@myskyrim26 It's been less than 24 hours since they started handing them out, and they explicitly stated to wait a bit. I'd give it a day or two still.

Got my little battie! I like that he's really small as I don't normally care for the larger flying pets. This little cutie is a keeper!

As far as I can see it's a realistic vampire bat. They have light brown fur and grey or pale brown wings and I think they are quite cute, especially for leaf-nosed bats which can have pretty weird faces sometimes. I have no idea why they called it a long-winged bat when the wings aren't especially long though.

Personally I'm quite pleased that they went for a realistic model rather than a stereotypical 'scary' vampire bat, partially because things like that perpetuate negative stereotypes of beneficial wildlife and make my job harder, and partially because it means it fits any of my characters instead of...I was going to say my vampire but actually even he doesn't look like a stereotypical vamp, his look is more bosmer thief. Looking like a vampire assassin would make his job much harder.

It's like the shadow ghost mounts, which are technically halloween themed but actually just black and white/grey patterned mounts. They fit in around Halloween, but also don't look out of place the rest of the year or on non-creepy characters, which makes them some of my most used mounts.

I love it.

It looks the same as the bat in the /summonbat emote.

Maybe they will make a black version, at some point?

Fun fact: bats can 'see' (through echolocation) objects as thin as a human hair and microbats are manoeuvrable enough to avoid one while flying.

I have waist length hair which is very frizzy and tends to stand up from my head a bit if I don't keep it tied back (which I usually don't) and I've spent more time around bats than most people, including spending several hours walking around a room with approximately 500 tiny bats flying around and none of them got caught in my hair.

In fact the only time one did get caught in my hair I was hand feeding him and the little idiot ran up my arm and tried to hide from me in my own hair. Even then he only got tangled when I tried to get him out again.
