Just another ticket-seeking carebear in Cyro-land...

To the AD gankers:

in Chey last night who thought it would be amusing to kill my obviously questing PvE character while turning in (couldnt even wait until I had backed out of dialogue to start attack) I just want to say thank you. No, Im NOT being sarcastic here, I really mean it sincerely.

*Long story but so is Cyrodiil (I mean really, 5 years of fighting and has any side really made any progress?)

My original plan was to collect a few boxes out of Chey as Ive been doing since event started and leave back to 'carebear' land. Had no problems there until last night, even where all 3 factions were questing there at once.

Two of you decided to jump me while my back was turned. I dont know how long the 3rd AD was standing there, but he didnt jump in until about 5 minutes had gone by and you still hadnt killed me.

Just a suggestion from a non-expert on PvP you may want to consider:

high CP + very low PvP rank + heavy armor and S&B + 57k health = PvE TANK.

Not exactly the easiest of AP I would think..

I have stood nose to nose against Yolnakhriin and Lokkestiiz in vSS and laughed in their faces, so your scrawny yellow arses were not intimidating to me at all.

Just so you know, your 3rd buddy was more of a pita than you 2, just kept spamming some sort of sorc trickery? IDK, some black crystal cage thing that kept me locked into position... whatever... at that point I was getting bored and could see this was going nowhere and just gave up.

After respawn at keep, I was just going to go home. I had collected my tickets and 3 boxes, good enough I figured. Then when staring at the map, I noticed something different?

A bright yellow hammer moving around not far from where I was.

Could this be the legendary Volendrung that my 'carebear' had only heard of but never seen?

Yellow though. Probably means its carried by an AD surrounded by many many scrawny yellow arses.

But still... Heck, I was going home anyway and a chance to at least see it, so I could go tell the tale that the legend is true and it really does exist to the other carebears at the carebear tavern over a glass of carebear mead.. I went after it.

On the way, I noticed 3 or 4 other EP heading in the same direction. I rode with them, and was surprised to see only two AD (and one was carrier).

A bit of a skirmish and now one of EPs has the hammer (hey Chey guys, your buddy coulda probably used some help there, but heck more fun ambushing questers I guess..)

So I finally get to see what this thing actually does. We went to AD keeps taking them, then I noticed after taking one that FINALLY an AD gate was open. I been waiting soooo long for this to collect AD skyshards for achievement. (Ive had DC shards for a while, could never find AD gates open).

I ran in and got my shard, then caught up with my group but by then the hammer was gone. Back to Oblivion I suppose? We went and unlocked other gate and I got my other shard :)

Nothing left of AD to conquer, if only they had a few more defenders fighting instead of hiding in Chey looking for easy prey, but oh well, bad for them, good for me.

Also a chance to finish my 'ocean' fishing, which I did as well

Now I can go for the easy shards and fish and get my achievements. Woot! <<< thats a carebear happy noise in case you dont know ;)

So, anyway, if you havent fallen asleep yet, I just want to thank you AD gankers.

Because of you being worthless to your own alliance and just going after low hanging fruit, you turned what was supposed to be an uneventful night of collecting my 5-9 boxes and going home into giving me a major progress towards what us carebears consider to be two of the hardest achievements in the game.

Thanks again (sincerely),

Just another carebear tank

Not obviously, there always were pvp tanks, and maybe they thought you're using unkillable troll build which can wistand tons of damage.
Anyway, its always amusing how people complain about being killed in pvp zone, and being a carebear doesnt give your char "Dont attack me" sign.

Possibly. But again, not an expert on PvP, but I would think such a troll would be out there somewhere trolling? Or maybe they quest as well, I wouldnt know lol

I think you misread my intentions. Im not bitter at all. You go into Cyrodiil, be prepared for anything, especially being attacked. I learned that long ago.

Ok, I did call call them 'scrawny yellow arses' but it was only meant as tounge in cheek humor, like the 'carebear' jokes.

The spirit of my post wasnt about bitterness, but just the opposite. How something that would appear bad can become something good, depending on your attitude towards it.

I suspect not many carebears after being attacked while questing would turn around and next go chasing a yellow hammer by themselves, but its all in how you take these things I suppose..

Im sorry if you or some didnt get my true meaning in this post...

That was a nice story actually. Well written, and I liked the “scrawny yellow arses”. Yellow filth anyway, FOR THE PACT!

PvE tanks are just worthless pieces, running around. Not able to kill anyone, i just gank around them and ignore their pathetic attacks. They never will help any of their comrades. 10-15 carebears sometimes can kill a ganker. A tank - never. It was about 120 min i just stood near the quest box in cracked wood cave and didn't let a PvE tank take the seeds or whatever they take for the quest. In this time many other yellows came in and i killed all of them, ignoring everything the tank did. Finally, he left.

What makes you think the people who ganked you even read the forum? Personally I do all content, PvE, PvP doesn't matter I have fun with it, even when I get salty about being ganked, in the end I still have fun.

I'm elderly, retired, disabled, and spend my days slaughtering "kids" (just to point out, this game has far more of us old farts than any other mmo I've played over the decades (since '91) yet everyone calls everyone else kids). There's a saying even older than I, "if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen".

That being said, a number of us do not attack people who are obviously doing the event (unless you're trying to flip a town and interfering with OUR questing). It's just as likely your gankers were actually PvE players. I've had a number of times where I'm having a very good 1v1 fight with someone and a couple of chuckleheads show up and kill me, it's obvious they aren't "real" PvPers, many of whom consider acts like that to be rude.

I've generally avoided PvP in a lot of other games, since it's usually hacked to hell and back (like a certain game about stealing cars and robbing places), here it's not, so it's fun (to me). Yeah there's people who talk trash and take cheap shots, even real life is full of that, people who claim glory while everyone else does the work (sounds like a lot of bosses I've worked for... hmmm). Just like life, you either bury your head in the sand and let life pass you by, or you jump in, have some fun, and live a little before you die.

    Just play to have fun.

You are being bitter. You've assigned intentions to other players who played the game and did not mistreat you and made a post including a lot of passive aggressive comments towards them that they didn't deserve. So yeah don't get me wrong, I think it's fun, I don't mind reading it. But you're the one being a *** towards them, not the other one around. Most of this story is what you projected onto the other players in your head.
I just appreciate seeing live examples of how toxic PVE players can be towards PVPers, breaking the stereotypes. :)

Just ignore the players complaining about your story. PVPers taunt the defeated all the time, especially over something as laughable as a failed gank. I find it hilarious that its suddenly objectionable when its a self-avowed PVEer doing the taunting. You had a fun time doing PVP - that's awesome!

I could write a very similar post thanking that DC vampire who ganked PVE-only me while I was fishing at Lake Rumare to get my Master Angler fish, intending to get my fish and never come back to Cyrodiil. It was the first fight I ever won, totally unexpected, and yeah, that thought of "What? I won?!" is something I remember fondly even though I've since become a regular PVPer. In a very real sense, that DC vampire set me on the path to several years of playing loyally and regularly for the Ebonheart Pact.

So thanks, DC vampire, and I mean that in all sincerity. You almost certainly don't remember ambushing an EP MagDK fisher years ago, but in hindsight, I'm really glad you did.

You are the cancer that plagues PvP. If you need the quest and you run in there, successfully engage anyone in the delve, get the quest objective and then head out, that’s totally normal. Camping a quest point for 2 hours is not engaging in meaning combat, it is straight up griefing. Actions like this are why many PvE players who come in to try Cyrodiil during events leave and never return.

While this event has only served to reinforce the negative impressions that many had who previously participated in PvP only out of sheer necessity, it is highlighted by a few positives.

    1. It's almost over.
    2. Free golden accessories.
    3. It's their only event all year

If you want to be petty, just kick any PvP players out of any activity finder group you come across as retribution for discomfort caused during the event.

Camping a quest point for two hours, particularly if it's something you do habitually, is also a pretty sad use of one's own brief and precious life. These posts always make me think that in the bigger picture, the griefers are essentially just griefing themselves.

I had the opposite experience. I was in Cyrodiil (AD) doing a scouting mission on the furthers north keep. As I finoshed it, I was coming back and saw a Red alone doing a dolmen. I joined in and we both played nice and opened the chest. I then did a wave emote and got on my mount to the nearest Delve that I had yet to do. The red played followed me into the Delve and we did it together and went out separate ways.

I use PvE tanks that group with me to go out and burn siege when defending a keep. If they can survive vSS, they can handle that once they've been through it a few times. They can also divert small ball groups who get single minded about taking them down.

With hindsight, It's a shame that you didn't use your time in the event to lend your obvious skills to achieving something greater than ganking a handful of questers whose AP was likely negligible given their death rates. Which, I believe, was the OP's point.

Oh hell no, that's unconstructive and petty and only reinforces the already ridiculous artificially inflated pvp/pve hate spewed on the forums. You get troglodytes on both sides, gankers and leets. Just move on and be the better player. I don't know about anyone else but I'm here to enjoy the game.

I mainly PvE but am grateful for PvP because it's a good source of transmute crystals for my many alts and build experiments. I am not good at aggressive pvp but I build for support roles and do good seigeing, so I don't become a drag to the groups I join. There is enough prejudice and bitterness in the real world, don't feed it ingame.
