Block build in pvp

Gohavoc
Gohavoc
So am i missing something but why are these builds allowed to fight 15 people at once till the friend comes and bombs the point?? Like seriously holy your trigger down and win against 15 people all spamming abilities on you?? That is just insane how one build can block the damage of soo many. Want some balamce change?? Well this needs fixing asap

That's not how it works. Throw a shield on off hand and just hold block ,see how long you last. it's a combination of gear sets, mitigation, blocking(with right balance of block cost reduction and stam/mag sustain), keeping up HoTs, and timing your heals and/or protection to coincide with inevitable ulti-dump. Face-tanking a group of 15+ people is actually harder than it looks.

Advice- don't dog pile on the tank. Best case scenario, you eventually kill it and waste alot of time. Worst case, they are setting up a bomb or ult dump from friends.

Ignore them and they become a literally useless build.

Yeah that happened to me and a group of other pve potatoes last night in IC. About 10 of us all trying to kill a tank. Spent 5 minutes trying to dint his health and failing. It became bit of a fun game trying to kill the silly unkillable man. Then his friend turned up and bombed us all. We all died in unison. Then each of us got t-bagged individually. There was a moment of silence in the group, excitement and fun had turned to shock. The group disbanded and tears were wept.

We had negates stuns, ccs. He was able to survive it all by running around corners. I've just come to the conclusion that i'll just walk away from them. What a annoying build. Just frustrateing when you're solo capping a point and one just come and plants himself on it and doesn't move till his friends come.

Haha yeah was doing that lastnight. Still don't think one guy should be able to fight 15, tank or not.

Everyone thinks these builds are stupid easy to pull off for some reason. If you think it’s so easy try it!

They usually work well because pugs don’t bother with burst combos and time their CCs.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

They work because there is absolutely no way to stack damage like mitigation+healing is stacked. Let's say typical PVP build has 65% mitigation after penetration (with battle spirit). This permablock builds have 90%+. To pierce 90% mitigation vs 65% mitigation you need 3.5 times more damage. Now let's add healing to that, and that wardens can easily stack major vitality+major mending+CP multipliers+argonian multipliers. Healing boost will be 2+ times or more that way, because healing done and healing received are multiplied too :D
All of this means that even if 5 high dps players will rotate on this permablocker they won't achieve anything. Only stacking debuffs and coordinated cc+ulti can kill such player. It is obvious without voice connection it is impossible. Should such builds be allowed is another question, this is fantasy MMORPG, so why not? But imagine everybody will start running the same.

Block builds are the definition of a zergling tool.... Just ignore and move on, unless your group has the dps and unblockable stuns.

I fall for that a lot...

Dude comes up and starts fighting

    Fight dude for a while

Realize dude is one of those obnoxious unkillable tanks

    Sunk cost fallacy sets in

Spend 5x the time making sure dude is killed

But for real, teabagging you all is more than a little pathetic and I'm embarrassed on their behalf. That's like going into the kiddie pool as an experienced swimmer and laughing about the fact that you can out-swim the three-year-olds.

Don't worry, I'm right there with all of you like

Hum, I never play one of these kinds of builds but I like seeing them. It spices things up and adds to the variety you see in cyrodiil.

I want to see WWs, tons of mag, tons of stam, super tanks, solo players, small groups, big groups, I want to see variety.

I mean, most players copy their spec directly from the internet, don’t heal themselves and just want to do damage like they’re in a pve trial. Of course people are going to dissect those builds to take advantage of them.

I just hate the mentality that everyone should only spec for damage and then complain if someone takes advantage of it.

I 100% agree, the more cheezy builds and different powerful abilities and specs the more interesting to play. That's why I almost always against nerfs. But this builds is best example of how current game mechanics favor stacking mitigation+healing. There should be counter-play from damage side and not only burst damage, but pressure damage too.

You probably ran into a very well known tank, depending on which platform you play. They serve a purpose and are not an easy build in the least.

@Nord_Raseri is right on many points.

*If you got distracted by the tank then that is on you and your group.

Just have fun with the game and don’t worry about what seasoned players can do. That is your ZeN

Sorry, but this is BS. It is absolutely natural for player who tries to understand how he or his group can become better in PVP to come to forum and try to understand how some cheezy builds work.

Most of the people I tank run cheesy ball zergs with bombers, necro bombers, jab spammers, dedicated time stops, and 6+ Healers. Added bonus of snipe spammers. So who's cheesy? Most builds in cyro are pretty cheesy...

C** and others do not have cheezy builds. They worked very hard on them for a long time mastering their builds. Something that should be respected over a simplistic zerg.

Sorry but I think I have to call BS on you. If they and you want to become better at PvP....Then they and you should learn from your gaming experiences and not fall into the same mistakes again.

Build diversity wherever it can still be found is very welcomed in ESO.

Only time you wanna focus the tank, is when they are in a organized group you want to wipe. Then you save him for last. Build ult, cc and negate all at once.

C** and others do not have cheezy builds. They worked hard on it for a very long time, always theory crafting and their builds, extending past just PvP.

Of course practice is most important. But understanding game mechanics means a lot too, and you can't understand them purely from practice. Probably best way to learn game mechanics is creating your own builds and see how they work. How damage or healing work. How mitigation works. How balance of max resources and recovery correlates with in-combat sustain. There is a lot of unclear and not-obvious things in this game and zero info from ZOS about it.
So searching this forum sometimes really helps. For example this thread is always bookmarked for me:
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/279426/damage-mitigation-explanation-updated-for-morrowind-new-calculator/p1

So just "have fun and suck while seasoned players farm AP"... I don't think it was good advice from you.
