Multiple PEOPLE not companion NPC's. That is a feature that should be left in single player games. Misconception or not, this is NOT a single player game. There is a lot of soloable content but if you want to do the GROUP content, which most definitely IS designed to be done with other PEOPLE, than you need to find friends, acquantances, a guild or a random group as you pass by.

While similar, neither MMO's or Co-op games were desingned to play solo. Co-op is a subcategory or game mode of Multiplayer. Co-op mode is commonly found in shooter games as a way of playing the story mode in multiplayer.

Eso has been stated by the people who make the game that they intended alot of it to be played soloable. In fact there os more solo gamecontent then group. I play 90 percent alone every day and have literally more content to do then I have hours in the day.

    Lol. No.

Questing is far too easy as is. You want connection go make some connections. This would be a waste of developer time and money.

OP isn’t saying that they want to solo hard content and succeed without using a player.

They’re saying that they just want a companion NPC. Similar to the ones you get during quests.

So after playing at launch and on and off to now i've noticed that i always struggle to feel connected to a large portion of the games world, having a lacking of relationships with in game characters beyond reaccuring story based characters leaves me feeling rather dissconected, having a companion, someone we would meet and having them act as if they were a member of a player group, being able to gift them things and have them react to wether they like it or not would make exploring (atleast to me) alot more entertaining.

being able to set them to be at your house when dissmissed and being able to choose where they were to stand or a vacinity where they could roam, players who are either not socially invested in the community or just introverted would be able to attatch to the character and have a general feeling of companionship,

just something that has always bothered me and made me feel the game was lacking in a way that to me matters.

ESO is a MMO. Online multiplayer game. Emphasis on online multiplayer.

If you want to play solo with followers, go play Skyrim.

You used to be able to stay in Wailing Prison and let Lyris follow you around.

Wait, I thought this was a MMO, not a single player game. Just create relationships with other people. They're ten times the companion that whatever npc would be.

This is an MMO, and all that means is there are multiple players on at the same time. It is up to the individual player how much or how little they interact with these other players.

But other people can't be controlled. And the risk is very high that one wrong word sets them off and boom, back to single player.

That is why companions are being created in the first place.
    That's it, that's all.

I like the company of other people in MMO's, not making friends with them.-- also
Fake character friend you can pull out of your pocket =/= actual friendship with actual person which takes actual effort and which I'm absolutely not interested in since I'm introverted

Eh, I'm a hermit. I don't have any interest in interacting with people I don't know in a game like this. What I like about MMOs is they aren't static like single player machine resident games. The world changes over time (even when ESO insists it all happens in 2E 582).

I have RL friends who play ESO. We interact.... some. Not much. They're just like me really....

However, that said - I'm waiting for one RL friend (who's really wanting those companions) to let me know if they're any better than companions in so many other games I've played. I trust her - if she says they're great.... well.... since I'm not impressed with the first two, I'll just wait a while to see if newer ones are better.

If she says they suck, well, then I just don't have to mess with them at all.

Why are you guys continuing to debate whether or not companions would be a good addition to ESO? They are being added, so everyone can check them out and use them or not as they desire. :)

Personally, I enjoy playing with others but also playing by myself and exploring stories in game — the two are not mutually exclusive.
