Replayable quests. Do we need such an option?

From time to time, some of us are getting tired and we are looking for something else to do, except pvp, dungeons, farming and doing quests we don't like.
ESO have a great story, especially dlcs and chapters and I think it could be a nice option to be able to replay such quests with our fav character.

Maybe some hard achievments with rewards for doing something during replay, idk, but I would be happy to just replay chapters\dlcs I want.

So, what do you think?

Though there are so many, I’ve only got one character who has completed them all, so why you would want to repeat stuff rather than doing new ones is a mystery.

An option to at least redo the dungeon quests at any time would be very welcome.

Don't really care as I have so many alts I can simply do the quests on any of them and I tend to do.
However see this as relevant for others who don't want to run lots of alts.

Yes, but specifically for Dungeons. At least give us the option to run the dungeon with friends later who have agreed to let you have a story run.

Star Trek Online does repeatable quests with rewards, but the repeat rewards are more generic. Still has rewards, because you're still doing all the stuff for the quest. /shrug

I can and have made alts, but for me the appeal of this is entirely for my mental rp. My main character is my vestige, my hero character that according to my headcanon has done all the things in the story, whereas with my alts are not and are more like everyman characters. My main character did all the base game quests years ago, so yeah it would be nice to go back and do it with her again.

I don't need it, but if the option were offered to me I would happily take it.

Sure, why not.
However it won't really have the same impact as SWTOR where choices matter and replaying is one way to see the various combinations that actually change your story later on.

But yeah, some people might want to relive XYZ story line without having to sacrifice an existing toon to delete and remake.

Mostly because areas unlock sometimes that I can't go back to if I finish the quest.

And yeah, no rewards the second time.

Yes. With rewards. It would be nice to go back and get max level gear for completing quests instead of having it gear to my lower level at the time I started questing.

I wish ESO had a new game plus mode.

Unfortunately, I also know it never will. Instead of offering players a proper new game plus mode, $oS charges players hundreds if not thousands of dollars for the equivalent. And there's just no way they are going to stop doing that.

I don't care about rewards on subsequent replays - or even the first time through to be honest.

Having such an option available has absolutely zero effect on those who choose not to use it. No downside.

I can think of several reasons why I and others might want to avail ourselves of such an option. Just one of many possible reasons: I roleplay and write fan fiction. I would enjoy the opportunity to replay quests that I particularly enjoyed so that, while writing about them later, I could refresh 'the moment' so to speak. The Wilderking/Wilderqueen saga in Greenshade is a perfect example that I wish I could replay on the same character.

Loved the Summerset questline and would love to redo it on the same character. An alt just won't do!

And for those of you telling others to roll an alt. Think about it.

Is it really that appealing to make a brand new character find all the skyshards again and get back up to your endgame power level just to do story quests? yeah its not. Thats horribly unreasonable.

People roll alts for all sorts of reasons but its completely unreasonable to tell them to do it for story quests which other games have features that allow you to repeat mainstory quests and so forth....lazy as hell.

All quests I have wanted to do again I have done many times already. I do not see the issue. I space bar through all quests except for the ones I want to do again. Even some side quests I have done again regardless that I do not need to for XP.

I have no use for it personally. I have always gone the alt route in any game where there was content I wanted to replay.

However, I certainly wouldn't object if the option was there for the players that wanted it and didn't want to go the alt route like me.

It can be an option. Definitely not for me but why not?

But this is just a bad argument. You don't need to collect any skyshards or get to endgame power to do story quests on an alt. You can literally light attack your way through them in dropped gear. It is definitely a viable option to roll an alt if you want to do quests again.

Yes, with rewards as well. It's not like the quest rewards are super good and would replace farming for gear anyway, so I don't see the problem.

As I mentioned, STO has repeatable quests with rewards, but the rewards are reduced (not removed) for subsequent playthroughs.

Another one I've remembered, Secret World, has a cooldown on repeating quests.

So, there's ways to balance things without totally removing any rewards (which makes repeating the quests pretty pointless.)

Yeah it's definitely an issue that would have to be looked at carefully.
SWTOR allowed their KOTFE/KOTET chapters to be repeatable and the short Chapter 2 got farmed right away Galactic Command Ranks. I guess some people can't get bored.
That said, repeatable chapters are still a thing and featured in every weekly guild Conquest event, so they apparently got a handle on it. It's not impossible.

One idea might be to allow resetting the quests in a zone, BUT you can't reset the zone until you've done all the quests once.

First - why would my character want to go back to a town and have to deal with the exact same issue he Already took care of? And kill the same Boss he already killed?

Second - some quests neutralize an area after they are completed. Why would that change?

Ya want to do quests over again, make an Alt. That's what I do.

Do the story quests even have that much replay value? most of the time your shoehorned into one or two outcomes, or get to choose between a couple rewards, or between killing an NPC and getting a reward etc...

If people want the option add it, personally I haven't found any of the quests really worth doing again on alts, don't think I would feel too differently if I had the option to run them again on my main.
