The only way you can change crowns into gold is via other people (as in selling crowns).
Though it can be rather risky. If you decide to sell crowns for gold look for dedicated guilds or discord servers that do this on daily basis so you won't get scammed.
Otherwise there is no way in game to get gold with crowns.

I'm kinda surprised that isn't prohibited behavior since it encourages gold farming, botting, and other behaviors that are not healthy for multiple contexts. Maybe the developer doesn't care since they get the cash via Crowns? *shrug* I've been wondering what the official stance on that is, and if it's not desired, why action hasn't been taken on it.

if you ask in zone chat for crowns
    "WTB crowns"
people will sell them to you, just give the amount Gold they ask.
if they wrip you off and don't give the crowns then immediate report them.
there was a developer that told us that they will ban anyone that wrips people off in crown sales.

Zenimax doesn't seem to have any problem with that. Gina Bruno herself is in the discord of the Tamriel Crown Exchange.

And how could gold farming be a problem? Bot is wrong, but since when is farming something wrong?

Selling Crowns is a quick way to get banned. It does break the EULA.

    Just a friendly FYI

The official stance is that Crowns are considered an in-game item and exchange of in-game items between players is allowed.

    So you won't get banned.

But at the same time there is no (and probably will never be) a dedicated system for Crown trading since ZOS is pretty happy with the status quo. They still get the additional revenue from crown trades and keep those who want to buy gold for crowns or vice versa happy but at the same time those who are against it can't blame ZOS for directly supporting gold for real money trades. Because it's not RMT. It's a gifting system.

Gifting clown store items for in game gold is not against the ToS, but you do it at your own risk. I don't think ZOS ever guarantees to prosecute scammers or indemnify victims.

When we say "selling crowns for gold", we mean "Gifting crown store items in exchange for gold."

That is allowed. Gina has specifically clarified that it's allowed here:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/5205829/#Comment_5205829
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/5208334/#Comment_5208334
To clarify, trading an in-game item for other in-game items is allowed; trading in-game items for real-world money or other out-of-game items is strictly prohibited.
A Crown Store item is considered an in-game item.

It is absolutely not banned at all. You can exchange anything within the ZOS eco system.

I even put a ticket in asking if it was okay to give gold for a Greymore CD key (I had a guildie that was considering, and figured I should check in case it may result with both of us getting banned). The response I got was no to the key as it leaves the eco system, but yes to the crowns for gold because it is all still inside the eco system.

ZOS really should make it possible to sell 6 mo subs and Chapters within the game itself. Player A buys a token for $$ that can be redeemed for a chapter or 6 mo sub. Player B can buy that token through trade window or via guild store.

Now, THAT would destroy gold bot farmers. Those that would spend $$ for gold give it to ZOS rather than the farmer. Those that buy chapters are real players on real accounts (and as such would likely not risk being banned) that can only buy game content. Bot farmers use throw away accounts, not fully fledged high cp accounts with many characters and all the content paid for.

By gifting crowns to your friend or guildies or buyer from crownstore, and they pay you in game gold, the rate is 100k for 1000crowns. People always eager to buy crown items when new crownstore items out like new dlc, new crates or new motifs etc

I know that houses are not giftable but does anyone know if items from house menu are? Like trial target dummy and mundus stones. Or is it just stuff from actual crown store?

House menu items can be gifted, house gifting is possible but needs the help of support... so it gets pretty tricky.
House menu items work much the same way as normal crown store but you have to be in the seller’s house.

I strongly advice NOT to trade crowns for gold or vice versa with a random person.

There are a few that are honest, but there are quite some that just want to rip you off, and then you will never see the promised gold.

And so the Elder Scrolls foretold. You will be shy, and I will be bold.

Why should any action be taken against it? People who have enough gold give some to buy Crowns they need from people who have enough Crowns but need gold.

No exploit, no bot, nothing. A fair exchange. Why are any of these not "healthy"?

they just need to make item like:
    1)tradable
    2)cost 510 crowns
    3) when use get 500 crowns

    As example.

Buy crown now is like some sort of hard BDSM in my opinion.
