Why is the thieves oasis so huge?

Again zos has missed the mark with this house. I know I'm not the only one who wanted to see a smaller thieves hideaway type house with a sewer grating entrance....similar to the outlaw refuges. The templates are there already yet we get a humunguous notable village?

I imagine large guilds will enjoy this perhaps rpers that rp thieves and outlaws so im happy some groups will enjoy it. But for a solo thief searching for a hidey hole away from the maddening crowd well.....we'll just have to camp under the stars for now, or live in a large barrel.

How many notable homes can a player own, who does not intend to use as a guild hall?

I already own 3 notable homes and i do not run a guild so they seem too big for lil ol me. Im willing to pay crowns for a smaller thieves house with an outlaws refuge ambiance rather than the feel of a thieves village....the thieves oasis seems to be a portion of Abahs watch. The water fall is lovely and picturesque but why do all notable homes now have water falls? And those ruins around the thieves oasis don't really inspire me as an outlaw character. Well only one of my characters rps a thief lifestyle hence why i need a smaller place. I bought the palace back in the day as i got excited that it was in abas watch, c lose to the thieves guild. It's gorgeous yes but it did not live up to my expectations for my thief character. I decorated it but non of my characters were able to connect with it and i ended up buying the sugar meadow. That's where my khajiiti thief lives for now.

I'm really enjoying eso and i dont want to complain for the sake of just complaining. I was excited and hopeful about the thieves oasis but not even having a hatch type hidden door? C'mon.....we're thieves. 😆😉

    I think this time they're catering to people who've wanted multiple buildings. A lot of people seem to be building villages in their homes. But if they're going to continue making such large homes, they need to raise the item cap. And since they refuse to do so, they need to scale down on the homes again. Linchal was a good size for that cap. I don't need this much empty space in my homes. I'm basically buying whole worlds at this point.

    @WolfStar07 ahh yes true, many peeps are wanting village type homes. Yes i agree the item limit is too low for such huge homes. I'll wait patiently for a smallish thief's den ...hopefully one day. Thanks for the reply

    Yeah when I went and looked around the first thing I thought was, "Well, it looks like ZOS noticed how many people were building their own whole villages."

    I was immediately having flashbacks of getting lost in upper Abah's Landing, too. And if that plank thrown across between two buildings is permanent..... hard pass, lol

    The other thing that definitely bothered me was the perpetual sandstorm. I would probably not buy it if you can't turn that "feature" off.

    I'm fine with the house as it currently sits; I won't buy it because the accessible "surface area" of the house far exceeds the 700 item limit when coupled with the fact it's a desert home and therefore doesn't offer much help in making it's exterior look "full". It's another Princely Dawnlight Palace for me.

    However the name I feel should be changed; calling something a "Thieves Oasis" while simultaneously having it's doors larger than Daggerfall or Wayrest is laughable, what do you mean thieves oasis? No one can hide in that place, it's more noticeable than the eruption of red mountain.

    I personally would adore an outlaw refuge in the exact same layout as Rawl'kha. The waterways coupled with it's four sided setup make it prime for decorating as either one huge hideaway or a several-layered custom structure. Really they'd just have to remove a statue and take one exit out and it'd be ready to go.

    I guess the sandstorm is part of the weather. In some areas you get snowstorms, heavy rainfalls, etc, depending on the biome.

    To the OP

    I hope the devs will listen and create a medium sized hideout, with two sewer entrances, like an outlaw refugee.

    I like this home and will probably buy it, as I have always wanted a 'village' type build, but custom building is heavy on slot usage. Having the build done already and just tweaking it does make this type of build a lot easier.

    However, upon checking out the home I was hunting around for a hidden trapdoor or sewer grate and was disappointed that they didn't include something like that in a thieves oasis.

    I'm find with the sandstorm too, I think that's a great and unique effect that is only available in one home so far as I know (twin arches).

    Both of these houses seem to be aimed towards guild housing. This would be why they’re very spacious

    I LOVE this house. It is perfect for guild housing. And it would be...if not for two things.

    1. The item cap is too small.
    2. The player population cap is too small.

    Seriously, if they fixed these numbers, then this house would be a terrific consideration for those of us who appreciate the town-style guild housing, but we just can't use it. How can you use guild housing when only 1/8th of the guild can use it at any one point in time? These are two huge, glaring issues that need to be resolved before they release larger houses, because as it stands, I can't buy this no matter how much I love it—it's useless to a guild of anymore than 30-50 players or so.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno Please send this feedback over, if at all possible. It's what the majority of the community is complaining about. Thank you!

    Does it stop? All the time I was there it was non-stop sand. And the difference between that and the other forms of weather is the sand obscures the view. I would really hate to be trying to line stuff up and can't see what I'm doing because of sand in my view. The other thing is, how is the wind so strong that it can pick up sand, yet my trees are perfectly still? Not at all immersion breaking!

    And Twin Arches was the very first home I got, and I have never seen a sandstorm there?

    Thanks for considering our feedback! Now don't get this the other way around... at least from my point of view, the work that was done on this "house" is amazing, the team is very talented and I appreciate their work, however even though I like this house, I see it as an other wasted opportunity for us to get a medium house like most of the community is asking.

    Thing is... I have several 700 slots houses. I believe it is the case for most housing enthusiasts. These manors are so expensive to furnish, it is frustrating and painful, because with such large houses you could do a lot of things, yet the furnishings are either very limited or are quite expensive or rare. Some people have the time and the resource to finish such projects, but after I invested piles of gold or many crowns in these houses, I don't feel that I want to buy an other large manor, even if I like it. You have already given us two very large houses for free, the Psijic Villa and the Rimmen Hall of the Lunar Champion. The Psijic Villa is the perfect example of why huge manors do not work, because if you want to decorate it properly, you need to focus on the exterior or the interior, you just can't do both properly without having many empty areas.

    An other issue with these manors is how large they are... People just won't travel to the far end of the house, except for the first couple of times, after which there is little reason to wander. Most people will place the banker/merchant and crafting stations somewhere near the entrance, because there is no fast travel in the house and mounts can't be used. Hall of the Lunar Champion was the first house to add portals, but we need some placeable portals like in Eld Angavar to make these large manors fun to use. I am still waiting for a grappling hook furnishing so people could make challenges like in Dragonguard training grounds. Wouldn't that be amazing? You can bet your money that people will enjoy that and housing will be more fun than it is now! Combine that with portals, timed portals, interactable flags/checkpoints and traps (which you added in the private arena house), and you can have a whole new minigame in ESO!

    I love it, and I will try to get it if it's not too expensive, but we'll see how well I feel like I'm able to decorate it with the item limit. I've kind of gotten used to it with other houses, but I'm not 100% happy with *any* of them at that limit. I still feel like increasing the item limit would be the ultimate happy-making thing ESO could ever do for me.

    Ok, I bought the house on test, so that I could explore the boundaries and see what can be moved and what is permanent.

    The trees and pergolas (and the plank) can all be moved. It is possible to walk along the top of the upper wall structure, with some steps or planks added. You can also walk atop the wall over the entrance. And interestingly, there were zero sandstorms there after I bought it. Of course, I wasn't there for a long time, so I'm not sure what the blowing sand schedule is.

    I'm still not impressed with how the huge waterfall turns into a tiny vertical stream at the bottom and barely makes a splash. Make it more like the Forgemaster Falls falls, and it will look a lot better.

    And honestly? I don't think the house and property are as big as some others. It would still be a challenge to make it look lived in with only 700 slots, but nothing like Wraithhome or the Psijic Villa.

    I was at first excited at the possibility of a house like an outlaw refuge. Then I saw this and was disappointed. It it s too big and don't know what I would do with it. I will not be buying it. We need more smaller cozy homes like the lucky cats landing but with the larger furniture cap. I like homes that make you feel nestled not huge open palaces that feel cold and uninviting . Still waiting for a secluded fishing cabin complete with cabin, pond, waterfall surrounded by forest

    And i really wish you would remove the category caps in notable homes and just have one set cap for everything. Why only allow 10 cats. I don't need 100 slots for trophies. Why not just combine everything.

    This, if adding more slots could cause issues then i ask the devs why do we have homes with 100+ slots for trophies.
    i would easily and happily accept 10 or 20 slots for trophys if it ment extra slots for normal items.

    As frustrating as the separation can be, it is also useful. Because your assistants and storage furnishings, as well as pets and mounts, won't count towards the overall count.

    It's waaaaaay too big, and isn't really good as a guild base/house either. People who use the stations in a guild house are all about business, they are not going there to explore, there is no reason to. They go, they do what they need to do and leave just as fast.

    The idea that bigger is better seems to rule in this case, but it doesn't make it true. The walkways without rails that you might fall off and cause frustration on your own home, the fact that the number of items you can place is the same as a medium house that costs much less, the fact it is nothing like any thieves den or hide away in the game. Why? How is this anything like a Thief might use.

    Way off the mark. It's as if ZoS spent so much labor on it that they have to get some kind of return on it, so they are moving forward with it even though it's all wrong.

    It's meh, I was hoping it would be something special, instead it seems to be a desert city with sandy winds and way too big for any purpose.

    Alright ZoS, so you get it, we want a house that is large not an entire world unto itself. Something manageable. But we also want more item slots, and if you are going to put it somewhere way off the beaten track, and expect people to spend $100+ dollars for the house then give it it's own wayshrine, I mean really, come on. These giant houses should justify their own wayshrines.
