What would someone need

OK, let's say.... Hypothetically ... that some PVE potato might want to mess around a bit in MM. But they haven't done any dungeons or trials to get 'unique' high powered gear.

And they really don't want to be simply a crash test dummy. But they can craft pretty much anything they want.

Either Magicka based or Stamina based

The goal is - survive for a bit and get some hits in

What class would you recommend? What crafted sets would be options? What traits on the sets? What food?

Hypothetically

Templer, Magicka, primary: heal and defend, secondary: dump some Nova ults.

5 Fortified Brass, 5 Armor of the Seducer (light). pink tri stat food. reduced magicka cost on the jewels. If available Chokethorn monster. Trait: impen.

heal staff, lightning staff or S&B. Depending how familiar you are with them.

If you are good with block and avoid red, then Ancient Dragonguard instead of Brass.

If available, then Bright Throat and witchmothers brew instead Seducer.

Cleansing Ritual is your bread and butter. Honor the death your [snip] skill. Other skills either more heal or more damage.

    Anything else is experience.

This is a survival build. Find out yourself how far you want to push damage and drop defense. No one knows this but you.

Full impenetrable traits on all pieces

    Medium build:

    Willow's path
    New moon acolyte
2 heavy chest/legs rest medium, tristat glyph on big pieces chest/legs/head, stamina on the rest
If 2h and bow i would go maul nirnhooned front, bow alessias bulwark defending trait with weapon glyph
If SnB defending and block glyph, max hp enchant

All golded out, or atleast the weapons

Same for magicka but 5 light 2 heavy
    Destro/resto or destro/SnB

I would choose Bloodspawn as monster set

Maybe add max magick/Stam as mundus

Dubious camoran Throne drink for stam
Or the magicka version that i dont remember the name of, the purple one from witches event max hp/mag mag regen.

There is a lot of better build options, but this is a good start especially with the very underrated Willow's path

Now i havent mentioned any specific classes, but If you choose sorcerer u can go with 2 dmg sets

    +immovable potions

I go in both cyro and BG in the same gear i do everything else in. Depending on the character some of it is blue and even green and might be 5 or 10 levels behind me. Its only worth the effort to craft gear and build for pvp if you are going to pursue it outside of MM as a regular endeavor.

In BGs, because the matching system is completely random you can easily end up being a target dummy that melts as soon as someone looks in your direction or you could possibly be the best player in the BG. Crazy but true.

In cyro, during MM, there are a lot of little skirmishes around the pve towns. It can be quite good fun. In either case you will have other people supporting you and they are likely to be better and worse than you at pvp.

So i wouldnt make a big fuss over it, tbh. Make some good pots though and some poisons if you are feeling frisky.

This is along the lines of what I went in with my first real PvP experience. I went with heavy Seducers instead of light though. I was joining a group so that might make a difference. One on one I could stay alive for a while but was rare I killed anyone. In a group I did decent and felt like I was contributing to the fights.

Most important thing is attitude. You are going to die. Early on you are going to die a lot. Don't get discouraged by that we all went through it. Eventually you catch on and start doing better. Probably quicker than you might think.
