Is there a way to toggle TEXT chat between group and guild?

I'm having a hard time figuring out the mechanics of assigning text chat in ESO. I was in a random dungeon the other night and tried to text to that group, but the text kept going out to other people in my guild.

I've figured out how to join channels for voice chat, but is there something I can do to change text channels?

If you’re on a PC, you can set up separate tabs in chat for all, guilds and/or groups

Typing /g will set your text chat to your group

Typing /g1 will send it to your no 1 Guild

Typing /g2 will send it to your no 2 Guild

Pressing F1 will get you to the in-game help which should explain the various chat options in more detail.

Is it possible to set different color of text from different guilds?

There are several shortcuts used in text chat:

/z is the Zone channel. Everyone in the same zone can see what you type.
/s is the Say channel. This is the default channel. It displays for people near you (I don't know the range)
/y is the Yell channel. It displays in red. I also don't know the range of this one. Possibly the same as /s or a little wider.
/g is the Guild channel. If you're in more than one guild, /g1, /g2 /g3 will take you to the chat channel for your 1st, 2nd, 3rd guild, etc.
/p is the Party (group) channel (since G was already taken by guild, and P is also the shortcut for the social menu where you have group functions). It displays only for your current group.
/w [character or player name] sends a Whisper (a direct message that is only displayed to them) to [character or player name].
/r sends a Reply to a Whisper (handy if you get one and don't want to bother typing the [character or player name].

You can have different tabs in your chat window and configure them to display different channels. I believe the default tab will display all channels except for NPC chat which is turned off by default. I don't really like using chat tabs because I'll forget which one I'm on and miss PMs or other chat, but some people may appreciate it.

You can edit which text channels are displayed in each tab of the chat window, and the colour for each channel (including each guild separately) by hitting the gear icon on the chat window.

Yes in the game settings under social I think you can set the colour for all different chat types. It’s very helpful.

But you have to set it individually for each character, which is just clinically insane.

Sorry, I should have specified I'm on Xbox One. But I think I know what you're talking about. I did see all the color coding in the social menu, but I didn't realize it was something I was supposed to toggle. It looked more like a legend telling me what the colors meant.

So if I choose one of these as the active one, it will change my text to the appropriate group?

Sorry, I have no idea how it works on the Xbox. Consoles are mysterious things for me. I bough a PS2 once... as a cheap DVD player because PS3 had just come out and the store was practically giving them away :)
