Now that I have a stronk PC, kinda want Account Transfers

So my last PC which at the time was the best I ever had, was also lagging behind the performance curve and also giving me issues, so a little while ago I finally decided to be a big Man and bought a legit gaming PC. Not the best, but it's got a Ryzen 5 and a gtx1660 with Windows on a separate SSD. (I cannot believe how fast I boot now it's insane...)

Anyway, point is, I actually have a legit gaming rig now, and it's started bugging me. I kinda want to experience ESO on this. I do actually own a copy of it through Steam. (I know, everyone says to get the standalone Client but it was cheap!) I've just been a Console player since 2015, and my account there has a TON of progress with quests and achievements and characters and I just made my 2nd million gold recently. Starting over completely would be a nightmare. So now I guess I've slipped into the camp of people wanting Account Transfers to be a thing.

Even though I know it's a "Never going to happen. Period." deal. :'(

It doesn't take long to get back up there once you know your way around this game buddy.

All the xp boosts and knowledge you have you can push it out fast enough.

While not in the same boat with gold as you, my PS4 account had multiple homes as well as crown store items that are not available now so I definitely understand. I finally had to make the jump anyway because the game just looks and plays so much better on PC (in my opinion) and it has been worth it. If it ever becomes possible great, if not I can understand why sort of considering how steam/Live/PS are all separate entities

I feel the same way. I have so much time played on console and 13 characters. I'm not trying to fully gear 2 healers again, farm vMA for ages, and try to find people decent enough to get my vAS+2 completes for my silver skin and fire staffs again. Plus all of the crown store collectibles that are basically going in the trash.

Oh yeah, Crown Store items are also a major drawback. Really unless I can transfer I'm never going to make the change over, it's just too much to lose. I'll just have to wait and see how ZOS enhances the game again for the new Xbox at the end of the year.

Well, first of all congratz on joining the PC mustard race, the cult of GabeN!

Its very hard to start over , and I can't really help out with your problem since I didn't really set the rules, however If you do decide to start over on PC, I will give you a little tip that I hope , will make you enjoy ESO on PC as much as I do.

Activate Nvidia DSR on nvidia control panel and the next time you log in to ESO on PC, set your resolution to 4k, enjoy!

Not that this is something you didn't know before, so this post is not very helpful, but I did find this at FAQ section:

So yeah, unfortunately, it seems, it will never be an option.

It would be great if instead of moving your characters, they could transfer any Crown Store items to a new account. I made the noob mistake of starting on Steam. After I realized how crappy Steam is, I started a new PC account, but I unfortunately have a house on the Steam account. Wish I could just dump Steam completely.

They should make it as in Destiny 2 where you carry over your character to whatever platform you play on at the moment but I guess it hurts their income from the crownstore.

It sounds to me like you want to take a Betamax tape and slide it into a VHS player and you think it should work just fine.

Shouldn't be any big deal. Its a Betamax Star Wars movie. The VHS plays the same VHS Star Wars movie.

    How hard could it be?

    IMHO

Multiple games already do account transfers. Destiny did it already.

It should be the standart rather than the exception at this point. Also more games should consider cross-platform servers while at it.

You really don't need more for ESO anyways.

ZOS could do an account transfer system if they really wanted to invest the time and resources in doing so, which they won’t. It would take just too much investment of programming resources that it’s just wouldn’t be worth it to them for the number of people who would want to make that transfer.

FFXIV also has account transfers for different regions like NA and EU.
While for console and Pc, you can use the same account.

To much time and money spent on PS4, I too would transfer to pc if I could or at least I think I would. Never know I may not like it as well and want to transfer back to PS4, lol

    (X) Doubt :D - if you do switch, don't start on pc eu. 0/10 can't recommend.

jokes aside, pc is so much better. ADDONS. make all the difference. and you'll make the gold in no time by crafting writs which are so fast on pc, it's absurd compared to console.
the time investment necessary is a different story though, as are achievements and clown store purchases.

i have a feeling a significant part of the console playerbases would actually make the switch if they could (and had a decent pc)...

Zenimax studios/bethesda does have the capability to transfer accounts. It makes perfect sense for them to not do transfers because its possible loss of >>>clown store<<< monetary purchases. Theyre banking on players like the OP to give into temptation and buy items on another platform account.

Why did you start completely new then? Don't you just have to buy a copy from ZOS, link the accounts, and have everything available? When I bought my Steam account I linked it to my ZOS account and all characters and other digital stuff was there. I'd be surprised if this doesn't work the other way around.

There's just no incentive for ZOS to do this.

Like others have said, for me it is the crown store purchases that make it painful to switch. Whilst I have a ton of character progression on Xbox EU (1052 CP), I'm totally fine with starting new characters from scratch. And that's exactly what I did when I joined my friends on PC NA (I now have >900 CP). My PC EU is lacking at just ~600 CP.

I'm not holding my breath for a transfer any time soon. But if it did happen, my situation is a bit more nuanced. I'd want my crown store purchases across all platforms/servers to be unlocked across the board, and I'd want my Xbox EU characters moved to PC EU only, since I'm happy with the characters and progress I now have on NA.

But its not going to happen.

Never going to happen and frankly at this point I think starting it would be a bit of a slap in the face to people who just dealt with the fact they'd have to start over with a platform switch.

I do sympathise, as I'm a former Xbox player. But I do not agree with the notion.

Getting back to where you were mechanically is not hard. In fact if moving from console to PC, it will almost certainly be easier due to better performance, addons and IMO, superior communication options.

As for the Crown stuff? All I can say is caveat emptor.

I don't have the problems on EU that the rest of you do. It plays just like NA for me. You may choose to call me a liar if you like, but I am quite serious.

If you *** enough I got them to move my crowns over. My computer bit the dust a few years back, I have a Stam Sorc, DK etc on there, a big chunk of gold and monster sets I farmed forever. I picked up ESO on my XB1 got the characters back but loath the Monster set grind even now that its easier.

I do find it pretty silly that you cant xfer from one platform to another, given the oppressive RNG on top of RNG in this game. Hell even if it was a fee of 15-20 bucks to do it would save me a hell of a headache.
