Hello,

I am looking to bring a couple friends into ESO and wondering what are the best combo of classes to synergize with each other.

Thanks

Depends on what content you plan on doing. Every group can use a Necromancer for the Major Vulnerability and occasionally the rez ultimate. Dragonknights are always valuable too, providing Minor Brutality for stam groups and Engulfing Flames for mag. If you want to play Magicka builds then Sorcerer and Templar are both great options since they bring Minor Prophecy and Minor Sorcery. For Stamina groups you’ll want a Nightblade for the Minor Savagery. Warden is the least desirable for a small group, but they bring some defensive buffs like Minor Toughness and Major Resolve.

There won't be a Nightblade in there, that's for sure. Friends don't let friends roll NB.

My husband and I run two sets of DK/Templars.

The first is Stam Templar DPS + Healer DK who focuses on upping my DPS output.
The second is a mix (magicka leaning) Templar Tank/Healer + DK Magicka DPS (one heal and pet armor)

There's not much we can't do together on either set. The second is easier. First pair are Imperial/Breton second pair are Breton/Breton.

Though if I could class change that first Templar to a DK, I would. But that's because I don't care for the Templar class/play style. YMMV.
PC/NA - Perpetually casual. Furniture and fish collector. Lover of exploration and opener of urns.
Maxed CPs, still no clue how to endgame, too much time opening urns, prolly.
    Eve Morrison - Templar DPS - Furniture Crafter/Maker of Arms - Co-op w/hubby/achievements/crafting
Jilly Narraway - MagDK DPS - Delves/Dungeons/Dolmans - She murders ALL THE THINGS!
Fynn the Lucky - Warden Tank -- Seer of things/Explorer of places - RP/Solo/Storyline/Completionist
    Siluna Southpaw - StamDK DPS slippery-fingered type/Murder hobo - RP/Solo/Storyline

I would say that the classes you pick are less of a concern than the sets and skills you each use. There are also a lot of other factors to consider, such as whether you'll focus on PvE or PvP, or if you enjoy playing more tactically vs. facerolling (Very possible with 3 people in most content).
In general, every class provides SOME form of synergy that can help teammates, so it's just a matter of picking the class that looks/feels best for you (And your friends), then building to make them work together. Try avoiding skill and gear combos that double up on buffs (ex. You can't benefit from two stacks of Major Brutality, so wearing Dreugh King Slayer with a friend using Molten Weapons is kind of a waste), and be sure to read your passives. Depending on how meta you want to build, there's honestly a ton of different off-the-wall setups you can utilize with a coordinated group, so don't be afraid to experiment. As you play, you'll find out for yourselves what does and doesn't work for your playstyles.

Some general class notes that might be helpful to start:
    - DK's can provide team-wide Major Brutality and Sorcery, as well as Minor Brutality via passives
    - Warden's can provide team-wide Major Resolve
    - Necro's are the only source of Major Vulnerability
    - Sorcerer's have a passive that gives the group Minor Prophecy
    - Nightblades can provide Minor Savagery with a passive
    - Templars can provide Minor Sorcery through passives

Depending on how you build/use the warden, while they don't have that unique minor buff other than toughness, if you use the animal skills it's pretty straightforward to get high uptimes on off-balance, minor vulnerability, and aoe major resistance debuffs that you might not otherwise get in your small group.

Sorry I should have mentioned our main intent would be pvp with doing the necessary/required pve for gear and consumables.

One of them for sure would be a stamina based melee character. I typically play anything that compliments the group the most. Having trouble convincing the 3rd to join us right now but I think they will come around. We enjoy small scale pvp the most of anything anymore.

Level each class lv 30 (fast),
Choose the one you love the flavour.
    Profit.

Every class is good enough to do all content in all role.
Some are easier, some more meta, but it change every patch so who care ?
    Just pick what you like.

I'm also curious about 2-person pairings - my wife & I play, but we don't group all that often (she's with her guild, I'm still looking) and we'd like to play more often as a team. We've been doing that more recently, and having fun, but we'd like to "git gud", so to speak, when it comes to PvE content as a team. (We're not PvPers.)

That’s a fair point, especially for a stam group where Minor Vuln and Off Balance are both valuable and not easy to obtain. Mag groups can just have one player use an Asylum Staff or a couple with Ele Weapon for Minor Vuln. Maybe that puts Warden as #4 on the list for stam group synergy, right after DK, NB and Necro. Stamplar is probably close here as well, given that it has good DPS and off-heals, as well as providing Minor Fracture with PotL (which would otherwise require someone to use Focused Aim or a 5pc set).

Not meaning to derail my own thread but I must say I'm a huge fan. The video of you eating a pizza or something and playing a bow build one handed in a bg like a year or so ago had me laughing pretty hard and has obviously still stuck in my head.

It really comes down to the classes they enjoy most. Every one is different.

However, if you and your friends are mostly focused on PvE then I suggest at least one be able to tank and anyone with a magicka build can easily heal most content. That way you can easily do dungeons.

So don't mix mag and stam? Are there ways to heal through most content with all three of us rolling stamina builds?

Yes, you’ll be fine if you all have Vigor. Various class skills can help too, like Stamplar’s Ritual of Retribution or any of several Stamina based heals available to Warden. Worst case you can pop a Barrier ult on any class, but it’s very rare you’d need to go that far.

    My recommendation would be:
    - one magicka templar or warden as hybrid heal + dps (destro+resto or destro+s&b bars)
    - one dk or necro or nb, can be mag but with higher stamina, as hybrid tank + dps (s&b backbar with whatever you like on front)
    - one necro or dk or sorc, either mag or stam, mainly as dps with some utility skills (mainly standard dps bars)
