How do I leave Imperial City?

Is there an easier way than entering the Imperial City Prison dungeon just to return back to Wayrest?

I was already at the Daggerfall base in the sewers.

Who do I have to contact or which door / ladder should I use?

Entering the dungeon is the only solution?

In Daggerfall base, there is a exit door that is opposite the door to the Lambent Passage. The room with the exit door is the room that is next to the bank.

That DLC is just bad design. They dont make it easy to get to or leave without a lot of faffing, so you really have to want to go there and hang out to make it worth the effort. I go a couple of times a year and would go a lot more if it wasnt such a pain to get to and leave.

Since they separated Cyrodiil and Imperial City it is a lot easier.
You do not need to ride across Cyrodiil to enter the sewer base any more - you just join by entering the campaign.
Leaving the sewer base by the door to the outside (at least in the EP base it has some grass etc. so you can see easily which one it is) takes you automatically back to whatever place of regular tamriel you have been before.

As a plus, the door even says ‘exit’ easy peasy lemon squeezy
