Maintenance for the week of January 20:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – January 20
• NA megaservers for maintenance – January 22, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 9:00AM EST (14:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – January 22, 9:00 UTC (4:00AM EST) - 14:00 UTC (9:00AM EST)

Option to turn off BUFF's visuals would be very welcome (especially in first person, holy crap)

This game has been made with THIRD person in mind. Most of us know that it's most ideal for pretty much every gameplay situation. Sometimes FIRST person is not too bad though, it get's pretty fun to use in overland and questing IMO. It's also pretty impressive that they have seperate first person animations for everything. There's one big problem though:
The visual clutter. The game is one big lightshow to begin with, but it's mostly about the on-screen effects that display buffs and the like.

I get the point of wanting to visually display buffs (mostly years ago when we didn't have buff timers) but it's j ust plain awful in first person. Cast one Rally and you're looking at this: https://www.uidownload.com/files/987/564/1007/sunlight-background.jpg.
An option to turn it off in for both camera modes (first AND third) would make a lot of sense actually. I'm sure we don't all need the swirly green stuff to indicate dodge fatigue? Or weapons turning into lightsabers because of a Brutality buff.

We all know the first person footage in the trailers is just them marketing the game as Skyrim 2, but that could also be a reason to make sure that we have an option to have first person actually look as clean as scenes like these:

There's a reason they are never buffed up in these images, it doesn't look immersive and clutters the screen. Please give us the option to stay immersed as well :p

(gotta love footage like that though, it's so not accurate of dungeon gameplay XD)

TL;DR: Please consider a graphics option to turn off the visual buffs that clutter the screen. I'm not even asking for adjusting the particle effects, just an option to remove the layer of effects ON the screen that are there to indicate stuff like "major brutality". The game will look so much better and also be more like what you are communicating to the players.

See no reason for it not to be an option if that's how someone wanted to play.

PS, We need much better buff timers or duration of actions timers on console pretty please ZOS.

As a person that is too lazy to get an addon that does it well, i agree :p

Yeah i can imagine the current system where you just get flooded with all the buff icons not being ideal. On consoles that is. Would be nice if you could select a skill in the menus (like you use ASSIGN) to be 'tracked' and be the only things included in the icon displays.

My experience is PC though. I just really feel like this game could use a toggle where all the visual clutter is removed. Not for endgame perhaps, but for questing, which is keyboard face roll levels of intensity.

    AGREE :#

also agree with your point, OP :)
first person can be fun for exploring and questing but as soon as you start activating abilities... :astonished:

Honestly I would love this. You know what I hate about playing as a DK the most? The spikes on your character's back.

Haha, yeah that's like THE thing we always complain about in our guild; how that exact tacky spike armor + dragon-blood ruins the dragonknight in our opinion. So many other skills are more subtle and work on that class, but those are something else.

As a medium-armor nightblade skills like shuffle and mirage come to mind. It's all so overdone. Add--ons help me, but it's kinda ridiculous that shuffle makes you unable to see if you are cloaked or not.

Anyway, i don't expect them to give options for individual skill visuals per-se, but mostly the extra layer of buff indicators that show up as on-screen clutter in first person. It's an extra layer that really shouldn't be too hard exclude, you'd think.

In third person i mostly just want to toggle the visuals that are tied to the minor/major buffs. (like dodge fatigue, white-glowing weapons because of major brutality, yellow lines because of major expedition.) But again, in third person they are just small lines, in first person the whole screen get's painted.
