Around how many crown crates do you think it would take to get 300 gems?
I'll use extra crowns from ESO+ for crates occasionally and from my experience it's just as rng as the rest of the loot in the game. I have gotten 4 crates and netted 500 gems (resplendent sweetroll), another time got 15 crates and barely get 50 gems.
Felt horrible after the 15 crate deal btw, never again. Best advice is to use the crowns from subbing, don't drop extra money on top of that, especially enough try for a certain number of gems.

So at about $50 and I don't think that will get you 300 gems. I can't speak on the worth of randomized rewards
Better to buy some every once in a while like once a month or less - if you have the money you are willing to spend.
Also participate in ESO twitch streams for random crown drops (ESO account & Twitch account have to be linked)
I think the khajiit would resent the implication that they would ever peddle scammy clown crates. That level of predatory practices is reserved to game publishers.
I’d say usually 30-45 of the same crates. This is based on my own experience. After usually that amount I can buy one of the mounts for 400 gems I usually wanted to get in a crate (but never did).
