I think that many people will probably consider the vampire skill line to be a new skill line. It sounds like they are changing it
quite a bit. Makes me wonder if they are going to remove the skill line if you already have it.

They are reworking the Vampire skill line in the same way they did with Werewolves. It's not a new skill line and it's not even a Chapter feature, it's a base game update. They'll add 3 more active skills, twerk the others a bit and call it a day.

    Thank you for this

Tbh that made me think of buying the most

If we can get vamp skill line anyway it is cool

    Too expensive atm

    Summery of the Twitch stream:

The new chapter releases on 18th May on PC and 2nd June on Console and will be called Greymoor. It's currently not available to pre-order on the PS4.

It's set in Western Skyrim (and I'm guessing the zone will just be called that because one of the pre order things are "Western Skyrim treasure maps") with about 40% of the area underground in Blackreach. It will include Solitude and Morthal. It will be very gothic in feel, much like the feel of Rivenspire.

It will feature heavily "werewolves, vampires and witches" and include a complete overhaul of vampirism in-game. From the sound of it, it's going to completely turn it on its head and you'll need to actively feed to get stronger rather than the current system where not feeding gives the most benefits. Your appearance will now change as you feed more.

There will be a new system, "Antiquities," that will essentially be treasure hunting using mini games (including scrying) to discover unique items. These will include things like a mount (in kit form), a new rare siege for PvP and "Mythic Gear" that will be restricted to wearing only one piece at a time but have unique effects such as double running speed. Everything will be account bound. It will be in every zone! It will come with two new skill lines.

The story line will involve investigating weird storms in the area that may or may not make the new Dolmen alternative!

There will be a new 12 person Trial that might be called "Kynes Aegis" and will be about the size of Sunspire but more linear.

There will be several returning characters including Lyris, Rigurt the Brash, Narsis Dren and Neremo. Probably an appearance from the Falmer too.

Labyrinthian will be a "huge" public dungeon. No other details of that.

The Q1 release (sometime in February/March) will be a dungeon pack. I didn't make a note of the names, sorry! It will come with the performance improvements we've already heard about and need the whole game to be redownloaded. But the installed game will be about 30gb smaller and all future patches will be smaller too. They claim it'll massively improve load times. They also said something about Cyrodiil crafted sets coming with that update!

The Q3 DLC is another dungeon pack and the Q4 zone might be The Reach. More info at E3.

i like watching all these people flood the forums with unrealistic expectations of new classes and weapons like any of this has been teased

Morrowind added a new class and battlegrounds.

Summerset added an entirely new skill line and Jewelrycrafting.

    Elsweyr added a new class.

Based on that we should at least have gotten a brand new skill line.

thats the thing about expectations my friend. You expected something when they've never said that you can expect certain things. Sometimes patterns aren't permanent. You don't have to like it. but they are allowed to not follow patterns they've set up.

see if you go into things without expectations, then you won't experience these feelings of being let down.

It's essentially 40 bucks (nearly full price game asking price) for a standard zone, a smaller zone, a few dungeons, and "ground fishing". This is gonna be their formula, get used to it.

You said July in your first post, that might have been a typo though.

They are throwing around console and PC dates, the overview page says March and June for me, the little text says February/March, May/June. Guess all of them are right due to the 2 week period for console launches.

"Sunspire but more linear" is kind of deflating. That and Cloudrest and the trials I like the least precisely because they're so short and feel so hurriedly put together.

I suppose that a Halls of Fabrication-length trial is just out of the budget these days?

Yes sorry, typo that I didn't notice on about 6 read throughs! :D
Only seen that link which says Feb, should really have looked about more. March seems a very long wait with it on PTS next week tho.

    Will change it now

It's been awhile since I felt a sense of progression in this game.
The fact that there is no mention of the cp system really worries me.

This is something they said they are working on. This is a key part of they game, so my guess it is an undertaking.

The Antiquities system adds according to the stream two new skill lines, the chance of getting mythic gear and new, unique furniture. Plus a new in-game earnable mount.
Maybe that's not your thing because it's not combat related, you don't do housing, or you don't care that people who aren't into the high end multiplayer content can get competitive gear via playing, but really that's a you problem.

im wondering why they are adding antiquities tough that no one asked for over other things a lot of people have been asking for...

Probably a unique idea thats been in works for awhile. If you only give people what they ask for people only get what they expect its hard to sell an idea as new or groundbreaking, not that antiquities is either.

Its also much more difficult to give the things people ask for from a design perspective because there are as many expectations about a requested feature as there are people asking for it. Its important to do it right and really nail it on the first go, especially if people are to pay for it. This is why necros are so well done and why they were so op on release. If they were even a little underwhelming it would have angered the player base rather than excited them. Even now there are still those who feel let down by them.

Even if antiquities isnt what i personally wanted, im satisfied that they are putting NEW concepts upfront.

You missed out Mythic gear that offers special bonuses (outside of combat doubled movement speed for example) - can only wear one Mythic item at the same time.

    Besides that:

    No new weapons.

    No new skill lines.

    No new combat features.

we're actually getting 2 new skill lines, both of which tie into antiquities which is how you get the new mythic gear
  • bostonguitarkid
    also new mythic items

which also seems to mean on the other hand

    no champion point rework?

    no spell crafting

    no new skill line

    no new weapon line

    no new class

    no new arena

    no new battlegrounds

    no new multiplayer game modes

Notice that antiquities doesn't materially impact combat. CP, spell crafting, weapon line etc all impact how combat functions/the META so to speak. They probably want to/have to rework combat first before they can add a new dynamic to the game. But...I guess we'll see how it all plays out on Monday.

If you just look at the content being released with the new chapter, it seems a bit light.

However, the studio is ALSO spending a large amount of resources on something at least equally important - performance - the fact that they are implementing multi-threading processing to the game engine is a huge deal and will potentially result in a very noticeable performance boost for everyone.
