P.S. Before anyone steps in and yells "this is nonsense, they should use the resources on fixing bugs/whatever" - no, there are several independant teams working on the game (any game), and whoever does textures does not do any gameplay coding etc.

Let's just ignore the developers that would have to worry about coding and bug fixing for the increased memory requirements.

WoW looks horrible and still has quite a pool of players.

They updated the char models, in WoW, though.

Made them look worse, in some cases, but still.

Made all of them worse far as I'm concerned (and I had characters of every race when I quit playing). That was one nail in the WoW coffin for me - not the biggest one, but certainly an issue.

I'd love to see some graphical enhancements to the game such as increased draw distance for shadows and foliage in every zone. I'd also like to see (and think the game needs) vanilla zone overhauls to bring them up to par with the DLC zones. This year the visual gap will be especially evident when comparing Haafingar and Hjaalmarch to the Rift and Eastmarch. I don't expect them to do it all at once but it would make sense to update old Skyrim zones when adding new Skyrim regions same goes for Hammerfell, Cyrodiil, etc. I'd also like to note that I don't JUST mean new textures but also placing in new clutter and objects to increase the density of detail in vanilla zones.

The above sounds nice but placing new objects and otherwise altering the game world would probably be even more resources-consuming.
I guess I'd settle down with fixed wrongly applied textures (like I posted) and slightly improved geometry.

But if new zones can work with higher object limits old zones can too..

This is absolutely true. You forgot that to enhance those old zones requires basically making a new zone though.
That takes hours the art team may not have available.

You'd be surprised at how much of a game can be limited by how quickly the art team works.

to me they just need to update a bit the lighting system+some sky graphics and it would already look much better.
