How do you tell which dolmen/dark anchor is up? And in which order do they spawn?

Only 1 in a zone is up at at time, so if the one you are in front of isn't up, another one is. If you are in Alikir you can just wait 40 seconds and the one in front of you will pop. In every other zone you will have to wait longer or go find the one that is up to close it. I have no idea what order they spawn in in every zone, I imagine it probably changes. You can't tell from the map either, you have to be close enough to actually see the anchors. A lot of the time, in the low population zones, just the act of you running up to it will open it.

There's no way of knowing other than visually or asking in zone. If you have the draw distance set to maximum, you can see dolmen that are up quite some distance away.

There is no set order to them. They have a cooldown from when they last activated. So if they are active and someone is near, they start.

In a zone where dolmens are farmed, such as Alik’r and Bangkori, then because of that farming, they will appear to spawn in a set pattern (clockwise or counter clockwise). But this pattern is simply a result of the farming. Theres no reason why all 3 dolmens can’t be up at the same time. So the only way of knowing which is spawning next is to ask in zone (in zones that are farmed) and guessing in zones that aren’t.

No way to tell immediately. They respawn when a player comes close 10 minutes after they were taken down.

When you want to join the Alik'ir or Auridon dolmen trains, visit the dolmens until you find the open one, then go to one of the other two. When you're the only player at that wayshrine, go to the other one.

I always listen for the horn/anchor drop. Though, if you some times ride up to them the worm cult members just appear to start the ritual. It would be cool if they were like the dragons on the map. Like blinking or something.

There _is_ a set order to them. Just like in the Alik'r, they will _always_ rotate one after another in a specific order, it's the same in every other zone. There's no way to find out except trying it out, i.e. close one dolmen and hurry to the second one, and if the cultists aren't spawning there after like 10-20 seconds max, it's the other way around. But once you have worked the sequence out, it'll be the same. ALWAYS.

There are _never_ two dolmens up at the same time, even if no one closes them down. A dolmen can only start (cultists spawning) if the previous one has closed - either by a player, or (probably) by timing out.

Go to some zone at a time where and when no one is doing dolmens, and test it for yourself. I've done dolmen rounds in Deshaan (almost) by myself for an hour at a time, and it worked every single time.

Summerset geysers and Elsweyr dragons work differently. In Northern Elsweyr, the dragons do a full round of all three spawn locations before starting the next one, but there can be several up at the same time, i.e. they don't wait for the previous one to die, and I'm not sure whether the order is the same every time. In Southern Elsweyr, there's only two dragon spawn locations, so they alternate. Summerset geysers are only on a timer, I think, they're independent from each other.

This is the most accurate information I have reverse engineered :
    • There is only one up at a time
    • If no dolmen is up and you enter a dolmen that has not been up for 10-15min, dolmen will start
    • If the dolmen ended less than 10-15min ago and the 2 others ended too in the while, your dolmen will start.

    This means that
    • You can rotate dolmens
    • Order may vary
    • If you are in a less populated zone, your dolmen still may spawn.

Things can be a bit different in Cyordiil.

Ok, here are how dolmens work

    1. They are on a 5 to 6 minute respawn timer, this may have been extended slightly but the rotations in Auridon and Alikir support this time frame. Sometimes, the respawn timer is closer to 10 minutes, not sure why.
    2. Dolmens will pop in about 20 minutes if no player triggers them. They will stay up about 10 minutes if left alone.
    3. I think if left to their own devices, spawning is counter clockwise around the zone. But players will usually interupt that pattern.
    4. The number of mobs is dependent on the number of players near the dolmen, this can increase as more players arrive.
    5. General spawn rates are based on players and how many generals they have, the less the generals collected, the more of a chance. Pinions have absolutely nothing to do with this.
    6. Generals and Bosses have a small chance of dropping zone set weapons. This may have changed, it has been about a year since i spent an afternoon doing a dolmen zerg.
    7. If you are standing still in a dolmen area while it is active, the game will start to kill you.
    8. Pinions are a 100% Attrubute Heal when you close them, for everyone at the dolmen. Remember when soloing.
    9. When you close the last pinion, all mobs left die and the boss or general spawns.
    10. There is a rare instance where you can get 12 of the sub boss daedra to spawn at the same time. You will have all 4 pinions up when it happens. Its fun to sneak in and close the pinions when that happens.
    11. The biggest chunk of experience comes from the mobs if you tag enough of them. About 2/3rds of the total can come from mobs. So, if your around lots of players tag as many as you can.
