Thoughts while venting.

So, I thought I'd come here and vent a little, while expressing some thoughts.

I took my L28 Templar into the Imperial City today. He had been working his backside off for about 2 years gathering Tel Var stones, killing off Daedra and the like. I rarely ever saw other players, and usually just avoided them.

Tonight, I was fighting with a couple of daedra as part of a quest line. It's a PvE quest line, even though it's in a PvP zone. While fighting the NPCs, I found I was also fighting a human player from the Aldmeri Dominion. Ok, I thought. One on one, this could be interesting. However, not only was HE max level compared to my L28, and about 500CP, but is FIVE other friends were also max level. So, they permastunned me and basically just killed me off while I was unable to fight back. What fun. I expect it was a wonderful challenge for them.

So, I lost about a year's worth of Tel Var stones, and carried on. I noticed I was near a Skyshard, so I made my way there. I saw a Dominon player using it, so I waited until he was done, then went in to use it myself. As soon as I started using it, he and his 8 friends all started attacking me. What sportsmanship. What fun.

THIS is ALWAYS my experience of PvP. Nothing but giant ganks and poor sportsmanship. YEARS of collecting Tel Var stones ruined, and NO fun had.

I know what people will say about this, and I really don't much care. I just needed to vent, and to express my disappointment with the lack of sportsmanship, and the lack of anything resembling a fair fight. This is why I don't PvP. I suspect I'm not the only one that feels this way.

Oh, and I should add, it made it impossible for me to compete when my healing was rendered useless. A Templar relies on his healing skills to survive. If they're going to do a fraction of what they're supposed to... well, the Templar just gets screwed.

    Frustrating.

IC is meant to be a risk. You kept a massive sum of Tel Var on a low level character. That's...insanely risky. I'm mostly impressed that you won this gamble for so long, but in the end the loss was inevitable.

Ya, I was just posting elsewhere about how I only just found out you COULD deposit them in the bank. I had no idea until someone told me, but by then it was too late. Thousands of stones lost, years of gathering them ruined.

Tbh I don't fancy IC too and I PvP almost every day.

Cuz like, why would I wanna lose my currency I earnt by killing boring daedra.

Daedra literally everywhere in the game so nothing interesting about them. :D

I wanna res, I wanna keep fighting people.

Cyrodiil is like heaven compared to IC, you die, you res and *clippity clop*

Wait so how many stones did you have on you? Like estimate

But imp city isn’t a safe place. In most scenarios I’ll leave people alone unless they attack me or it’s during the event. However, definitely can’t expect other people to leave you be regardless of your level or theirs.

That does suck. I'm sure there's a tooltip somewhere when you first gain Tel Va or enter IC or something that tells you this, but easy to miss if it's not the right moment.

That said, how the *** do you stay that low a level for years on the same character? Is IC EXP gain that low? : o
In the end, the guy wasn't even max level. 500 CP is something I'd still refer to as low CP, honestly.

Obviously there's some *** moves in here at some points... but in the end, you really can't blame these people. It's not their fault that you did something risky on your low level char, especially if you're not very good at PVP (I'm assuming this from your lack of interest). I'd recommend going to something as risky as IC on a maxed out char that you feel truly safe with. Is there a particular reason you went with the low level...? Did you start making it as a Tel Var farm char? I imagine it won't even have all the skills available, which definitely limits you further.

I'm sure you won't wanna go near Tel Var farming again for a while, but if you wanna focus on doing your own PVE stuff, I recommend getting yourself a safe heavy impen build for survivability, your PVE damage output should still be fine.

I don't disagree with you guys, and I appreciate the non-flamey replies.

I had... not sure, something like 100k? As I say, I had no idea I could deposit them, or I would have done that. The character has spent a lot of time, kind of in limbo. I don't play him a lot, but I wanted him to be an Imperial in the EMPIRE. A former Legionnaire, expelled and hunted because he became a vampire. So, he's spent most of his time loitering about in Cyrodiil or Imperial City, collecting Tel Var stones as daily rewards, and occasionally from fights in the city.

Did not quite understand.. you have lvl 28 templar that you have played for "years" and.. it is still lvl 28? and "years" of tel var lost? You know you can put Tel Var stones on bank at IC base and at at any bank you visit same as you can deposit your gold?

How many Tel Var you had?

Im sure the character was not level 28 but gradually leveled up. The OP could have also spent like 15 min per session or went in like once a week over a period of time. We don't know that much about the fine details other than they kept every telvar stone on them because they had no idea they were bankable.

Also, it is end game content. You may want to finish leveling and gear up! If its slow, you probably can gank a boss or two for 5k each! Even if your just into sewers, you could easily increase the rate of killing them

When I was doing the pve quest in IC I’d purposefully not carry any tv stones and if I was attacked by another player I’d stand there. I’m not going to scramble and try to fight back and give them the satisfaction. I want their gank attempt to be the most anti climatic thing ever. Bonus if I drop less stones than a skeleton.

Well, to comfort the loss a bit, you can gain all those Tel Var back fast when/if you do some a bit more serious play - Tel Vars pile up fast, and then remember to always bank them up always between playing sessions atleast so they are safe and only go back in with a thousand or 2 if wanna play a bit more safe but do not wanna start with the lowest multiplier.

And yes, IC is sort of "pvp endgame" so best played with leveled up character with proper pvp gear and a plan. If encounter vulture groups that hunt solo players, make a group of your own to fight them, or switch areas to more quiet ones. While Tel Var loss might hurt the first times, you get used to it and if can toughen up and really get into IC, eventually you take Tel Vars from others so get payback and it all makes sense. Fun game mode, and the thing that makes it emotional (actual loss of currency) makes it also fun when can relax think about it like "win some loose some" risky play.

Templar is actually very enjoyable IC class to play, when fully leveled and geared to your playstyle and to endure some sudden strikes.

Hope you give IC a chance and have fun eventually!. And keep banking the Tel Vars, i remember years a go when i was new i first did bank every 5k tel var i did get. Nowadays banking maybe every 20-50k tel var or when session ends, depends on class and its mobility i play on.. :p

Then this answer should not trigger you.

You dont do quests on a low toon in a pvp zone with tons of telvar in your pockets.
if they are nice, they /w you thxies 2times.
upstairs enemy grps are to be expected, telvar grinding as their focus. What do you expect? Literally no one goes to IC for pvp sportmanship. Its all about $$$ and killing some pve pinata players.

Most ppl. will ignore a pve player doing quests, shards, fishing after 1-2 kills if he/she is empty on telvar and not fighting back.
Killing bosses and glowing ppl is more effective.... If you rage and show that you are annoyed.... 2-3 additional kills are.... Tempting.... If rage/hate /w.... Prepare for ctrl.... Welcome to pvp.

To be fair it tookme ages to learn you could bank them as well. But you took a huge risk carrying so many. Before I knew you could bank tel var, I would spend them on the vendor. That way I'd not feel so bad when I'm inevitably going to get ganked.

That is unfortunate you did not know they were bankable. I lost 14k the other night and was pretty mad... immediately killed the guy who got me before he had a chance to bank yet only got 800 back. Arg.

That said, IC is a high risk area where players literally compete for loot off each other; it's much more hard core than Cyrodiil or Battlegrounds, and even the Telvar is all you lose. Expecting sportsmanship under those circumstance is unrealistic. It was created as a ganker paradise, is a ganker paradise, and it probably will never change.
