storage container question(s)

I have three but recently figured out I can not put three in all homes. So I am gonna use the champion house to have my storage bins. Now the question is, can I safely remove them from all of my other homes without it messing up whats inside? no crazy bugs where all the stuff inside is gonna disapear?

and secondly I've read in multiple places that I can name each of these storage containers but I do not see any way to do that with the tree I have. One I got for reaching level something or other and the other two I got from the crown store. Is it only ones you craft yourself that can be renamed?

You don't have to remove them, you can place them in multiple homes at the same time, and have the same access to the same items stored in each of them.

You can rename you storage chests under collections, and right click to rename them.

    This.
They work like small individual bank space. You are def. able to put more than three in the Lunar Champion house. Not sure about the smaller ones.

I just place one in whatever home I'm in so I can access it, then I pick it up again when I'm done. Whether you've placed them in a home or have them in your collections, everything is still in them and you can carry them around with you without any sort of inventory penalty (that is, they don't take up any inventory slots), exactly the same way you're always carrying around all of your mounts and non-combat pets and assistants and so on.

The only advantage of placing one and leaving it there is that it's right there whenever you go into that home, but if it's a small place then you might end up having to pick it up anyway so you can place a different one and access it.

Good advice here also keep in mind you can rename them so you know what's in it. Ie. Gear, collectibles, sales chest etc

I have not heard any reports of items inside storage chests disappearing when they're moved or removed, but if you want to take precautions I reccomend placing them in the champion house before removing them from the others.

Each time you remove a chest you will get a warning that items inside will not be accessible until you place the chest, even if it's already placed in another house. You can safely ignore that though, it only really matters if remove the chest from all your houses, because then there's no way to get at the items or even check what's in there (except with addons) until you place it again. (Except furniture, which is still accessible even if it's stored in a chest that isn't placed in the house you're decorating.)

You can rename all the chests, no matter where you got them from. If I remember correctly the option appears when you open the chest, on PC there's a button at the bottom of the screen to rename it and I assume it's similar on consoles. I think you can also do it through the collections menu.

It's a good idea to give each one a name which lets you know what's inside, because there's only 2 appearences for the chests so without names it's really easy to mix them up. Admittedly I have one called "Other stuff" but I know what's in there because it's all the odds and ends that don't fit elsewhere in my storage...oh god, I have a junk drawer in ESO! :D

(BTW No one but you can open the chests or see the names, so you don't have to worry about visitors to your house knowing what you're storing in there.)

The only time I've ever heard reports of items disappearing from storage chests was when someone deleted one or more of their characters. I think the theory was that the specific items which disappeared had been placed inside the storage chests by the specific characters who were deleted. But I don't know if that theory was correct. And if it was correct, I don't know if it was just a one-time glitch or a known bug. And if it was a bug, I don't know if it was fixed.

I've never had anything disappear from my storage chests, aside from crafting materials that got auto-pulled out of them and placed into my crafting bag when I subscribed to ESO+. In my experience, the storage chests are safe, secure, and reliable. :)

Yes, it was a bug, and it was fixed shortly after the chests were introduced.
