Are alt accounts against TOS now?

I have had 2 alt accounts banned.. for no reason. Yea yea I know you HAD to do something, right? Well I only log on to collect daily rewards and sell junk in my guild trader that I can’t fit on my main. I don’t interact with anyone at all, use chat, or trade people on it. The most I have done was asked someone to promote me in a guild after paying dues.

I’ve had guildmates with the same issue.. I’m really wondering if it’s against the rules to make another account to use for selling items in guild traders.

It’s cool being able to have trials guilds and PvP guilds on your main and sell on alts.

I’m super confused about it. As I say I literally have never interacted with other people on it. The accounts were 2 years + old.

Did they get flagged for making gold? Being low level? Did ZOS think the accounts were bots?

My character doesn’t even pick up items. Both accounts were parked in a bank for 2 years to use the guild trader.

I did. They gave a response that involved bots/gold. Which was bull.

You're probably funneling large amounts of gold/mats between accounts or auto listing things through the alt accounts. Hence why bots would be brought up.

I’m not sure what auto listing is. I’m on console.

    Console is full of bots.
It's amazing to me the number of people that can't fathom the extent people will go to have automated cheats in any MMO, or don't know they exist just because of console play.

Of course, not saying you did that or that is the reason for your ban, but I am saying just because you're on console doesn't mean things like bots or hacks aren't possible.

Having several accounts is not against the ToS. That said, nobody can do much here in the forums. I'd say your best chance is to reply to the last response to your support ticket and explain what you think it's wrong in this situation. We don't have the facts here, and can't discuss disciplinary actions, per the forum rules.

It has something to do with your trading activity.

It's not just the fact that you have alt accounts because that, by itself, isn't an issue.
Lots of people have multiple alt accounts and have no problems.

Yes I assume they flagged it for sending gold to my main and that’s why it got banned. I’d just more or less like to know if it’s against the rules to have selling alts... because apparently is seems like it :/ since I have 2 banned.. also a guildmate had 1 of hers banned As well

I sell a lot of items like expensive PvP gear I have no room for selling on my main account and also materials

I won’t make another selling alt in case.. I don’t want my main banned from it.. perhaps they thought I was selling gold or being devious since I mailed several million to it.. 5m+ that stacked over weeks.

ZOS isn't going to discuss disciplinary action on the forums. Your best bet, as was already stated, is going to be to reply to your Support Ticket by clarifying your situation. You might also try listing your ticket number here.

It's not against the rules to have alts for selling, so its more likely your activities got flagged as being suspicious. You'll have to appeal that with Support.

Since when do they ban bots? I’ve seen the same ones farming mats all over the place for months. MONTHS.

alt accounts are not against the ToS. Zos even stated clearly in the forums recently that it is very much acceptable behavior to run multiple accounts at the same time as long as their actions come from your control. Using bots or programs to control additional accounts at the same time is not permitted.

So if we can run multiple accounts at the same time we can obviously own multiple accounts at the same time..

people report real bots whuch they see just running gatering mats or running in groups killing stuff

    ZOS do nothing

ZOS ban random nonreported or if even single reported account for staying in place for years

This needs to leave the forums and go directly to ZOS. There are rules against discussing enforcement actions on the forums for a reason.

Just contact support. Call them if you have to. They will point blank tell you the exact reason your accounts were banned. If you were not doing anything nefarious in 99.9% of cases the ban will be lifted.

It is NOT against the rules to have multiple accounts for your own use.

It would be against the rules if you were using them for botting, or linking the accounts for concurrent play via a machine or AI. Or otherwise breaking clear TOS, of course.

However, simply having more than one account is fine - was confirmed a while back.

99% of the time, low level accounts with no time played in the game emailing millions in gold to an established account is cash for gold activity, which is against the game rules. That will get flagged and banned every time because ZOS simply do not have the time to do an in-depth investigation of every incident to make sure it is really cash for gold. And real cash for gold traders will not follow up with customer support, which you can. Some suggestions:

1). Use one support ticket. Keep responding to that same ticket until it gets kicked high enough up the support chain for someone to look into it, confirm your activity is legit, and remove ban. If you enter multiple tickets, you just have lots of tickets all stuck in the lowest levels of support, who simply do not have the authority to remove ban.

2). Use your main for selling high value stuff and use alt accounts just for selling less valuable items, so the alt accounts are emailing more reasonable sums of gold around.

3). List stuff only on your main and at prices a little below market rate. They will sell fast and you will spend less time with inventory building up because you have no slots in guild traders to list it. Yes, this will impact your revenue a bit, but if you really need 3 separate accounts to sell all your stuff, you should be making plenty enough gold to afford your in-game activities. This is not real life. You have no constitutional right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of maximum profit.

4). Use alt accounts just to store items you cannot fit in your bank/main inventory. Do not use for selling. Move the gear to your main and sell there, once they have some guild trading slots open up.

5). Level up your alt accounts and do some main quest and chapter/dlc quests, so they look more like a real player account and not a burner account just for cash for gold trading.

I am sure you can figure out some other solutions. But emailing millions of gold to other accounts is going to raise alarm bells. You may know they are all "your" accounts, but ZOS does not. It is like a disheveled guy walking into a bank and asking to wire 5 million dollars to some fancy guy in a suit. Maybe it is legit but there is no way that is not going to raise money laundering red flags.

    Hello there,

With this thread mainly discussing disciplinary actions which is against the Forum Rules, we're going to go ahead and close it down. We suggest working with support to appeal this decision. As this support article mentions, owning multiple accounts is allowed.

    Thank you for understanding.
