For 1400 crowns the textures and muddiness of the bust is unacceptable. Clearly it was rushed to market and it frankly looks terrible.

Yeah... this may be mean, but the resemblance is uncanny: :grimace:

No offense meant to the artist who did the bust  ... and I'm sure the likeness is supossed to be a younger Abnur ... and the texture isn't as bad as Khunzar-ri's sarcophagus for example ... but still, that bust is busted af.

I think it's the photogenic version of Abnur. The artist was probably scared of the scathing remark Abnur would make if he looked bad.

A nice explanation, but it's not really a good likeness tbh. The facial features of the bust don't really resemble Abnur much, apart from the hair where some effort has been made. Plus, I don't think that 'Overlord and Nibenay, Grand Chancellor of the Elder Council, and battle-mage extraordinaire' would approve of having such a low-rez commemoration of himself...

The bust looks more like the secret love-child of Sai and Abnur, rather than Abnur himself.

The bust feels like a blend of in-game model and artistic license. The Legends card art goes with a slight inverted egg shape to the head, which the bust plays up. Probably to make him look more heroic.

The cinematic feels like they scanned Alfred Molina's face and then incorporated Abnur's features. Which I can appreciate. But it deviates substantially from the game model in doing so, particularly in his hair.

The item in the store is listed as having both audio and visual effects. Aside from talking, what does the bust do when placed in a home?

I didn't know about his Legends depiction, that's cool! I could maybe see the face-shape being related to that.
But the bust doesn't even to resemble that version very well imo... The eyes and the mouth especially.
    3abnurs.png
Legends Abnur I think is based on Main Story Abnur (they both have pronounced cheekbones), while cinematic Abnur and Elsweyr Abnur are still similar to that old model, but resemble each other more (smoother cheekbones). The bust though is pretty far removed from them all imo, in fundamental ways that aren't explained by just de-aging his face.

Be nice if we could preview what he says. I know on console I could not. Not that I would buy it, but no preview is definite no. If we could hear what he says without actually buying it then it may entice some to buy it.

    Yes.

It is hard to find a good bust with a condescending attitude, and this one fits that spot nicely.

As for the depiction, I think the artist made the cheeks and jawline too narrow. The face should be more round, not like an ice cream cone, if they have ice cream cones in Tamriel.

Yes. Abnur Tharn is MY chancellor. He was the one and only HOPE of the Empire. But he is dead.

Very slightly larger than an Undaunted vet dungeon bust. Similar to Kragh or Troll King.

I think the voice acting is well done. Real condescending attitude there.

Doubt if I will buy one though. More than once during the Main Quest and Elysweyr quests I was tempted to use the Blade of Woe on Abnur after some of the things he said and did.

Odd. I thought the rule was that the character was not dead until the actor asked for too much money.
