Are the out of control mat prices affecting your crafting???

I've noticed the price increase as well, especially with mundane rune being sold for 600/per a while back all of a sudden. Now it's dropped to 300-350, but generally prices are overall higher. Some of it could have been due to market manipulation, I'll give you that (because that mundane rune spike was really out of the blue), but it's being maintained because of demand, otherwise prices would drop back down. More and more players are getting into Housing, and since most furniture require heartwood/mundane rune, these are in constant demand. There are more houses and more recipes added to the game as well, plus, I really think people did more farming before the events were introduced. As a result, furnishing mats sell well and sell fast, without any market shenanigans going on. It's always a pain to have your crafting being limited by the materials, but like VaranisArano said above, it's more efficient to farm for the gold rather than the material itself.

Hmm... a logical reason for why things are the way they are... without resorting to tinfoil hat theories. I like!

What's even more logical would be for the spawning rate of the materials to be adjusted UP to account for the variations in price...what ever the reasons that are theorized....UNLESS the price increases are intentional for some mysterious reason.

So we need theories as to why the game-masters WANT the prices to increase....

I've noticed that since the price spikes...every Tom, ***, and Harry seems to want to sell at absurd prices just to see the pretty messes on the price charts...apparently the game itself isn't challenging enough for some??? Or maybe it's to hard just to hunker down and do the stuff needed to progress in the game?

I think games have to be based on a pyramid shape...more members at the bottom...fewer at the top. This game is getting top heavy?

I talked to HIGH King Emeric about this very thing late last week...I'm not sure just how high he was...but he ran out of the room screaming....

You can't force people to sell cheaper
Just farm it yourself and don't buy it then prices will drop, just like barrels of oil

No, it wouldn't make sense for ZOS to attach the spawn rate to the very changeable prices for various materials. Especially not when prices can vary hugely from guild to guild and on different platforms/servers.

Nor is there any benefit to ZOS for doing so, compared to the basic "farm mats, get housing ingredients" mechanic. ZOS doesn't care if you have to spend more gold than you like. In fact, that's all cool with them, since it means you have to spend more time/effort collecting that gold.

But you CAN manipulate people to unconsciously sell at higher prices. Because many people look at the average selling price and price from there. So if you can bump up the avg price...you can increase prices over time. The dynamics of market prices are more complex than you think.

I love eggs. They're a good source of protein.
