I admit a bit of schadenfreude with the "PC Master race" folks also. Played a straight 4 hours today with zero issues on xb1NA. ;)

    Not really.
You know why is your Ping bad, and that is the lack of Aussie Server and across the globe connections.
Since the US is connecting to home server, they have some right to be mad if the ping is bad, because it shouldn't be.
And just to be clear, I would like that you guys have your own server and better ping.

The PC NA server is, and i use this word loosely, fine. I think the problem is a technical problem in route some players are having. When i ping the server directly, it stops at Akamai. When i play through Steam i get 75-110 ms ping with ZERO lag spikes. Has not went above 110 ms once in a couple of hours.

But this is the whole point.
We can deal with the 250-300 ping that come with or distance to server.
But for a year we had to deal with ping 150-250 higher than normal.
This was since murkimire and was only fixed a couple of months ago.
It took about 10 months to get any comment from Zos reagrding this. In the mean time we either had to use a vpn to deal with akamai or stop playing.

You say you have a right to be angry about higher than necessary ping, i agree. I know we were. But remember our ping jumped 200 overnight and stayed that way for a year.

It all started the same way as this current ping issue (routing issues). I wonder if will take a year to fix with radio silence from zos?

But in my 5 years of playing, the lowest ping i have ever seen is about 210, and that was when i was connected to wtfast

I just find it obnoxious how people from the US get over 100 ping then go crazy about it on the forums all while forgetting theres an entire countries & regions putting up with 250-500 average on a daily basis. Combine that with how bad Kaal PC NA can be. Like come on

I guess you´ll have to mount propellers on your continent and move it a bit. Ping is better in Sweden.

Weather is gonna be suckier though. I think part of the reason for the low ping is the temperature making every cable auto-superconducting.

It’s regrettable NA is now experiencing Aussie-style latency... I haven’t logged-in yet (Perth, WA) and don’t know what awaits when I do? Prior to maintenance I was hovering around 300-310, but a while back with Akamai bottlenecks I was sitting at over 500.

I once got into a discussion with a NA player about performance, and when I mentioned issues created by this lag, all I received was a ‘git gud’ and to stop making excuses. It seems a few might potentially discover empathy!?

I hope ZOS do indeed fix latency for all, but I can’t help feeling a little mischievous hoping some of these NA PvP heroes encounter what we’ve put up with for years, and really ‘git gud’ when they meet a suitably motivated Aussie on equal terms. That’s not me by the way... I actually do need to ‘git gud’.

Lag is expected in any game when you play from Australia (unless it's big enough for OCE/SEA servers). It's a technical limitation of living in a remote country with a low population. There is no expectation of lag when you live a few hundred kilometres from the servers with 1 Gbit internet though.

Well a boat isn't a good example because one side would drag the other end that is up down. As one side sinks so does the other.

It's not lag which has been bothering me of late, but dips in fps. In some areas I'm seeing as low as 25fps.

Unless i'm in Cyrodiil, then it's very laggy.

It's not about "this is what we have to put up with playing in Austrailia all the time" etc, this issue should not be in the game for anyone, I am getting frustrated of constant issues not getting fixed, but certainly don't wish that others have the same issues just to make me feel better.

IT was aimed precisely at ZoS. EU players have had this issue for years, crickets from zos,and now the us has issues far exceeding what we experienced, and suddenly everyone expects a solution right now. There is some serious lack of QA in this game.

No one is saying the us issue doesnt matter, it very much does as it is the same ineptitude we see with the eu server. It is however incredibly ironic.

I don't "love" it (play on xbox EU and NA by the way), but think it is good as a lesson to learn.

I often see disputes when people request that content (like dragons at nighttime) get easier, and usually US players protest against this request. They do not experience the *additional* difficulty caused by lag, making it impossible to finish such content.

The current issue might help to raise awareness that an answer like "you can solo that" is not correct if the setting is not working as intended.

That's an entirely different argument regarding the difficulty of the game. But even with my bad ping as it is right now, I would argue that content shouldn't be made easier to compensate for bad performance. The bad performance should be fixed.
