I'm a lost Mag NB

Abstraqt

After a year out of the game I'm trying to figure out what sets and skills are best, I tend to play small scale PvP & duels. I've been recommended various sets such as spell strategist & new moon acolyte but unfortunately lack the time and money to test them, has anyone else tested the damage on these sets + any other strong competitors?

I feel like once I have the sets down I can figure out what skills I need to swap out etc

Those are pretty strong sets for any magdps; War Maiden is also excellent for Magblades in particular if you are just looking for something cheap. If you do trials or group dungeons, do some Sunspire to get False God instead of Spell Strategist, altho Spell Strat should be excelent for small scale PvP/duels.

For PvP use do War Maiden and Bright Throat.

TBH ever since they nerfed healing ward back in Nerfmire building a magbalde isn't that fun anymore. Playing it can be fun but it's more rare that I have fun.

Yeah the healing ward need really took the fun outa Nightblade

Spell Strategist is only good if you are beating up a target dummy. Anything with lots of mobility (most trials, most DLC dungeons, PvP, BGs) and you would be better off with another set. False God's Devotion only really benefits you in PvP with the 5pc bonus. New Moon Acolyte and something like Shacklebreaker would probably benefit you more.

I'm using War Maiden and Spinner's on my magblade, pretty basic setup

God please, no! Alcast is an average pvper at best, and his builds are subpar.
Please visit other content creator's websites such as dottzgaming.com. His builds aren't necessarily bis, but at least not subpar.

Personally I'd recocomend you to try out stuff like bright throat's boast, spinner's, swift, lich, nma (not sure on this one for mag setups, skills tend to become quite costly). I would honestly stay away got stuff like war maiden and innate axiom since they don't affect your light attacks' damage. Considering these can hit for up to 5k on pugs, using a set that doesn't increase their damage seems too much of an opportunity cost.

Definitely wouldn't recommend going to him for PvP.
