Invisible Armor Buff Abilities

Hello,

I've noticed this on my stamSorc, magDK and stamDK. Haven't noticed it on other classes.

Frequently, when I cast my armor buff ability (Hurricane or Volatile Armor), the visual effect does not appear. I'm not sure if it's being overridden by another visual effect or what, but it makes it difficult to keep up my buffs in PvP because I don't have a visual que that it expired. So I often end up re-casting it to get the visual effect to appear, but of course this has a negative impact on resource sustain. I do have the Action Duration Reminder addon, but in the heat of combat the visual effect of the ability grabs my attention much more than a small number at the bottom of the screen.

K thanks!

    Please disclose the platform and mega-server on which the problem occurs when you report it as a "bug". (Also, consult the Guidelines For Bug Report Forum.) Note: we are expected to report a problem with one and only one specific buff in a Bug Forum report. If the problem occurs with more than one buff, then we should post a different report about each one.
    • Since you mention using the add-on Action Duration Reminder, I assume that you play TESO with a PC or Mac. However, ZOS also needs to know the mega-server on which you encounter the problem. (I play with a PC on the NA mega-server.)
    • Are you using any techniques to cancel animations??
    In my experience, the problem is intermittent. That is, sometimes an "animation" or graphic for a buff, such as a damage shield, appears on the character, and sometimes it doesn't. (Note that while a damage shield is active, its effect will be shown on the character's Health bar.)
    • What you describe seems to have been an on-going performance problem with the mega-server, for quite a long time.
    • Although, for some buffs, the problem might be caused by a flaw in the software design, or by an error in the source code.

    In particular, the character's appearance may or may not change after casting Rapid Maneuver, or gaining some other speed-enhancing buff (such as a potion that grants Major Expedition). When the modification is absent, there is no evident way to determine that the buff is present, other than to recognize its effect upon the character's movement speed. While multiple movement buffs are present, and/or when one source (such as Rapid Maneuver) has more than one "stage", the movement speed of the character is not a reliable way to clearly recognize whether a specific buff is currently present.

    Action Duration Reminder aside, personally I configure the in-game ESC > Combat feature to display icons for active buffs on the HUD to the right of the Ultimate icon box. At least my eyes know where to look when I need to know which buffs are active. :wink:

    @Shadowshire Thanks for the info!

    I am on PC/NA. And yes it is indeed intermittent. I do use many animation canceling techniques as the majority of my playtime is spent in PVP. My eyes know where to look as well.. I just have to remember to look ;P

    Take care!
