TURN ON VSYNC in game if you do not have gsync module or compatible monitors Helps a ton.

AmeenHania
I don't know why all these videos on youtube that recommend to turn off vsync!!! it actually helps a ton for me since I do not have a gsync module in my monitor nor gsync compatible ( most aren't unless they say they are compatible. What also helps is if you do not have gsync monitor is setting low latency mode in nvidia control panel, prefer maximum performance for power management, texture filtering quality set to performance, texture filtering trilinear optimization on, threaded optimization on, do not touch your usersettings in your live folder leave the cores to -1 not -12 like some people have posted. triple buffering on, vertical sync set to fast, virtual reality prerendered frames set to 1, and other settings...turn off antialisiang ( not much difference in quality of the game), antristropic filtering i enabled to application control to help with fps as i tested this shoots down when your over set to 16 max in cyrodill only but im fine in other parts of the game...texture filtering negative LOD bias set to allow... and that is pretty much it....u may have to set your shadows to low even on nvidia 1080ti and water reflections but I have not tested this yet...and limit your view distance if your having problems...etc..

So yea, people on youtube who tell you to turn vsync off probably have a gsync module or gsync compatible monitor with an nvidia graphics card. anyway test your settings because a lot of people on youtube dont tell you about the effects of monitor hz and monitor hz range and the benefits of gsync monitors.....gotta do your own research. Now if you have gsync hardware then do not turn on vsync as two syncing methods will cause lag.

you might have to disiable triple buffering as it also causes latency in cyrodill but i havent tested this full. Also, always consider server lag. It's fine in other parts of the game for me.

also get votan's advanced settings and play around with the settings.

The vast majority of these settings in the nVidia Control Panel are completely ignored by the game unfortunately.

Vsync causes increased input latency(significant noticeable amounts actually).
Vsync also has bad mojo with good hardware. If your system can pump 100FPS and you are limited to 60 you will get stuttering and yoyo performance.

Honestly, it really depends on the individual system. You can't just say "do this one thing and everything will suddenly be great!" because YOU may have a 144hz monitor but the guy with the 60hz IPS panel is going to get worse performance with the advice.

Vsync is terrible. It adds a ton of input lag. Sure this isn't a twitch shooter, but I still like my inputs to be reflected on-screen without delay.

You don't even need Gsync anymore now that Nvidia supports Freesync as well. Pretty much every gaming monitor has Freesync built in.

V-Sync was on of the thing who made my input lag higher, I've removed since and it's better.
Everything maxed, shadow to high (no need ultra) and water reflextion low or disable, depend content, never higher.
You can save many FPS by lowering view distance ; 35 is pretty good to save FPS if you've trouble with.
Even with no trouble I usually never go more than 80 except when exploring and taking SS.

gtx1070 on 60hz monitor, 80-100 fps everywhere even in cyro.
Dropped to a max of 23 with dragon at SE or more than 2 big zerg fight in cyro, still 0 lag.

well i dont have a gaming monitor :P so this works best for those who dont have a gaming monitor and im at 60hz for capped at 60 frames with vsync... and with all those settings u specified but higher view distance and i can pvp again with no lag. i also use votans advanced settings to and set max fps to 90 ( dunno if that helps) but it never goes to 90 because i capped it with vsync... frames go down in zergs to 35 or so but i am still able to pvp pretty well. FPS doesnt matter too much. you can play the game with high settings in cyrodill. make sure u configure your nvidia settings correctly because this matters. play with your settings..u can get it to work and i dont really notice server lag anymore. also i am using dvi to dvi cable..i notice if i switch to hdmi or dvi to hdmi i see high ping from the game side including up to 999.

you can force those settings on through a handy nvidia tool called: Nvidia Profile Inspector. google it and download the latest one. also dont use the frame capper in nvidia inspector use ingame one through votan's or just enable vsync and cap it higher with votans but not too high... so i have a 60hz i capped ith via clicking vsync... dont use gsync and vsync at the same time if u do have gsync monitor. play with ur settings u will get it to work.
  • AmeenHania
i dunno i got it to work much better.. pvp is playable again lol without a gaming monitor at 60hz capped with vsync and upper capped it with votans to 90..but it stays at 60...35 or so while zerging...play with votans...nvidia control panel...and nvidia settings.
  • AmeenHania
and freesync is not built in every monitor plus if u have nvidia graphics card then its recommended u use gsync because nvidias adds latency since it has to use software to adapt to freesync which causes lag. but if u dont have gsync then play with vsync and I got it to work pretty well on my 60hz non gaming monitor.
  • AmeenHania
if u have amd freesync then u have better performance with radeon graphics card while with nvidia with gsync ... mixing different monitors from makes u use software which causes input lag.
  • AmeenHania
i guess they did that so u will buy from amd or from nvidia and not mix and match but if u mix and match things then u have a harder time adjusting things to work in game like i did lol
