Wow... After only 3 years of doing writs, I finally had a recipe fragment as a reward. So, by my calculations, if that drop rate continues, it'll only be another 18 years before I have all 7 parts! Yay! I'm so (un)excited!!

I think the drop rate has more to do with how many provisioning recipes you've learned and how many skill points you have allocated into provisioning. I get a recipe fragment at least every other day and I only do writs regularly on one character.

I have, well, more recipes than I can be bothered to count... and my Provisioning is maxed out with allotted points.

The below seems to be the only information regarding the drop rate that I can find. If there is another prerequisite, I'm not seeing it. This is from the UESPwiki:

"These recipe fragments can be found by completing Provisioner Writs; the higher ranked Writ you complete, the more likely you are to find a fragment of the recipe."

I want to say it depends only on how many purple and above recipes you know, but that might have just been Master Writs.

Fragments are pretty common. You can buy them for less than a 1000 gold, no?

    Yeah, they are pretty cheap.

It's not the drop rate that's the killer, it's the RNG.

I get plenty of Psijic Ambrosia fragments from time to time, but they're just duplicates of ones I already have.

I finally bought the remaining fragments on three of my characters so my main could do a Master Provisioning Writ and so I could reclaim some inventory slots on two of my mules.

Now my newest character gets the fragments, just because he's fourth in line for learning any motifs, blueprints, recipes, etc. that I come across. I'm sure I'll eventually buy the remaining fragments for him, too, but right now he has only two, so they're not taking up too much space in his inventory.

I make the full book once a month atleast

If you're doing writs on only 1 character, yeah it's going to take a while

Thanks. I'll have a look at some guild traders. But, to be honest, I usually avoid them. The prices are usually ridiculous and laughable.

Better off just buying the recipe its been under 5K for awhile now on PC/NA.

When I bother doing writs on all my characters, I end up with enough pieces to make the recipe a few times, I just donate them toward trade guild auctions, otherwise they take a long time to sell.

Three years of doing writs once a month?

Yeah, not surprised it took this long to get one ...

I agree completely about the high prices charged for just about everything on the guild traders. But once you've accumulated a certain amount of gold, the price of things begins to become less aggravating.

And the prices of the fragments for Psijic Ambrosia are not too unreasonable, especially if you take the time to shop around for the lowest prices.

I haven't actually found any in the guild traders yet, and I've lost count of how many I've looked at. It is a drink recipe, right?

I don't think the fragments are considered a recipe.

I finally found them! I had to tweek my search to be a bit more specific - Psijic/All/Epic - but they suddenly appeared, as if by magic. The prices weren't too ridiculous either, surprisingly.

Parts are pretty cheap at traders.

I've learned the recipe on all 36 of my crafters and have sold at least another 30 or 40 recipes in guild stores just from doing provisioning writs. They drop fairly commonly on max level provisioning writs.
