Should More Weapons Be Added To The Game?

I said no because there are already weapons in the game that are near useless. Maces, for starters...

    Frost staves are another...

I would prefer ESO to fix weapons like these first before introducing more weapons.
Well, some rebalancings (make maces great again?) might be needed. Frost staves on the other hand could quite nicely be fixed by giving them back to DPS, and letting the tanky staffyness rest in an entirely new line of staves...

Exactly. I want the stuff that is already here to work. Frost staves have the potential to be phenomenal DPS weapons with their immobilization. But that would require the devs to remove or change a lot of the immunities adds and bosses have in the game. Maces with the penetration-specific buffs are relegated to PVP with the way groups are run and the variety of sets that are better. Perhaps give maces some sort of off-balance or disorient buff akin to lightning staves.

Thing is, I don't want more cosmetic changes. I also don't want another weapon, like spears, with another skill line that has the potential of being more wonky than practical when these two could be fixed and brought into relevance.

But.... if you were to bring back a spear, you have to go net and trident.

There is much more to adding a weapon that just aesthetics. That's just the start. There are what, 70 motif styles currently? They would need to design 70+ styles right away. They also have to add new animations. They will have to add this new weapon to the loot tables, diluting the already dilute pool of potential drops.

Personally, I don't see the point. There are already at least a few weapons that are currently not viable anyway. If they can't find a use for maces, mauls, swords and ice staves, I'd say they should work on making the current weapons viable before adding more.

I could see adding new weapon skills for the existing weapons or maybe new weapon lines that incorporate the current pool of weapons, but adding new weapons is just too much effort for the returns from a development point of view.

Not true a one handed skill line (like they orgiionally planned to put in) would not need any new motiffs animations can be easily modified from exsisting ones and a offhand like a rune would not need a look or can be very simple.

Magicka need more than staff and a one handed magic/stamina skill line would do wonders.

I agree completely. My issue is with adding new weapons. Adding new weapon skill lines that use weapons we already have is fine by me. If they want to add a one handed skill line, I think that would be great. My main concern is that new weapons doesn't really add anything numerically. They can look different but that's about it. Any skills that anyone wants added could be done with the weapons we already have and that saves a ton of dev time and doesn't dilute the loot tables at all. Adding a completely new weapon just for the sake of appearance isn't something I see happening, but skill lines are much more feasible.

    Yes
Yes but only after they fix all most of the bugs and not behind a paywall
