Who else had no clue ..or.. Two in a row botched

Who else had no clue that there was an event going on until after the fact?

There was nothing announced in the launcher for me until a day after it began, even then when I logged in yesterday night the announcement was no longer on the launcher.
There is still no announcement in game, I even had to ask around in chat to confirm something was going on, to which a number of other players either were clueless or had only found out because they noticed the event vendor icon on their map.

This is two botched events in a row...

I can understand that you don't visit the web page or the forums frequently, why should you, but the event notification has been pushed to game Launcher 6 days ago.
Not sure why I didn't update for you, are you sure that you did not miss it?

For me the announcement was in the launcher since Monday. I was a bit surprised since I had been checking the launcher each day and the message said it should have been there for a few days already, which it obviously was not.

I saw it announced in the forums and on the in-game pop-up crown store screen.

You can also follow ESO on Facebook or Twitter and possibly other social media (not sure as I only use those two) for news, if the options already listed don't work for you.

Depends, but you are not OP, and OP specifically asked about launcher or in-game notification.

Nah, but I also understand that I'm skipping the part where ZOS shows me news/event announcements, so I'd know it's on me if ZOS did their part and I missed it, y'know?

You have to know where to look. The launcher news page, event webpage , etc. They wouldnt put it in a stupid place like the splash screen with all the "deals" for the crown the store on it or on the load screens. Nope, Its on the launcher where you spend about 2-5 seconds

    1. I log in daily and read every new post the launcher presents. (If anything to keep track of events)
    2. I stated that it was there, only to disappear the very same day when I logged in later.
    3. I stated that no in-game (aka crown store) announcement was or has been presented. (Black Fridas / Crates / Jode's / Scalebreaker / Wraithstone / Fez / Name Race / Nuzhimeh as of this post)

..For people whose suggestion is to read up more, you certainly do not do so yourself.

I never understand how people can be so ignorant.
It's the age of being connected. I was told by Twitter, facebook, IG, reddit, a random ad on YouTube, some YouTube personas, official ZOS page and twitch about every single thing happening in and around ESO.

With such a a social media circle i have to wonder how one has time for the game and a life. They could just put it on a splash screen in game or the load screen or they could waste my sub payments advertising it on youtube.

I knew the minute I loaded into Southern Elsweyr, mounted up, and rode for five seconds before encountering a loading screen that there must be an event going on. Normally, I can get a good 15-20 seconds before a mid-zone loading screen.

Your choice not to avail yourself of several easily accessed nodes of information (the official website, as one example), especially given that you already have internet access in order to play the game, is willful ignorance on your part.

Most of the events have started on a Thursday morning at 10 AM ET, so even if you'd known in advance that this event started this week, it would be normal to assume that it would be starting Thanksgiving morning. It definitely pays to keep up with this forum as well as the announcements on the main site. I don't do Twitter or Facebook, so this site is my main source of info. :)

It is funny to see how 95% in this thread rushes to blame you for your ignorance, but fail to use their eyes themselves and thus reply on a totally different subject. I will be surprised if anyone else responds to your question.

In my opinion the ESO launcher should be enough to be kept up-to-date. All the relevant information should be posted there, all the social media should only be extras and not an requirement (which some people try to state here). Use the forums when you want to discuss about something. Now, the launcher not receiving push messages is not how it should work. Maybe time to send ZOS a ticket.

To be fair though, that means nothing. The announcement should stay there for the duration of the event, so people who log in at any given time while the event is up know it's going on. I'm guessing the Black Fredas announcements overrode it. That said, I don't understand how this matters in OPs case since they saw it when it was originally up.

That's about 1-4 seconds longer than I spend on the splash screen in game. Because the vast majority of the 'announcements' on there are listing off random things from the crown store I never look at it. I click the button to collect the login reward (which at this point is just muscle memory, I don't even need to look for the button) and get on with what I want to be doing. Half the time I don't even look at what the login reward is, I'm just getting the screen out of the way.

The launcher is more useful for me because it's less likely to be advertising individual crown store items (I think it does include the crown store showcases, but not individual items) and therefore more likely to be worth reading, which means I pay more attention to it.

Which isn't to say they shouldn't put it on both, but for me it's definitely beneficial to have actual news separated from product advertising because as soon as I've registered that a particular window is usually advertising I stop paying any attention to it.

(Although most of the time I don't need the launcher either, I come to the forum most days and that reminds me to check the website once a week or so, which is generally enough to keep up on things. But the launcher is helpful in case I've missed something.)
