dungeons questions

I have just started to run the dungeons. The other players run through so fast it is hard to do the quests. I get to the end and it says to talk to someone or retrieve a torch but before I can complete the quest I get removed from the dungeon. If I go back the dungeon is reset and so is the quest and I can't complete the quest..

Is there a way to stop the removal so I can complete the quests?

Make a party yourself with people that want to do the dungeon slower. Do not use the group finder.

You can't stop the removal. They did make it longer to complete the quests, but that is to finish a quest. In your case, you would have had to take the torch much earlier in the dungeon. The quest was already broken by the time you killed the last boss without having done that, so even going back would not have helped you.

Unfortunately, with random groups you cannot be guaranteed to get a group that requests your wishes. You can try finding likeminded people in zone chat, or find a guild to run dungeons slowly with and read the quests. You can also tell people at the beginning of the dungeon that you want to read the quest, cause a lot of people DO listen. :)

Yes I realize because I didn't get any replies and thought I might have posted it to the wrong forum.

This is the best solution to pretty much most GF grouping issues outside of the GF actually working. What is amazing it it's simplicity.

You can also let the group know you have the quest as soon as you get into the dungeon and there is a good chance they will wait on you. Also let them know if they are about to skip past something you need.

You will get the groups that just want to hurry and don't care about you or your quest but in my experience most are willing to slow down.

The quest is likely over by the end of the dungeon. Most have you killing the bosses as a step in the quest. Just as the group at the begin of the dungeon if they would be ok with you doing the quest and most players will be cool slowing down and letting you complete it.

The best thing to do is to say, "got quest please wait" works like a charm and depending on your role people might just go ahead and clear mobs ahead of you but give you time to arrive at boss and read dialogue.

I have to say that recently even saying “Questing pls wait” or “slow down pls” has had no effect on the behaviour of other players, even when I have formed the group myself with. And in the latter cases Ihaven’t even been questing, it’s simply that it took me so long to port in that the group were way past the first boss before I could even start chasing them.

It’s disappointing to see this behaviour extending beyond the usual bunch of gameslugs (and I know I’m guilty of it sometimes). It means that even if you’re not questing, you don’t feel any satisfaction or sense that you’re part of a group. It makes doing the dungeon a very soulsapping experience.

In contrast, having a group that moves together and which you feel part of is a great feeling. And, yes, you can get that from random PUGs.

If you want to do questing, especially with the dragon/Elsweyr dungeons event next week, I would recommend either finding like minded people yourself (trust me there are loads of people who want to quest through dungeons) by asking in chat, or if you’re not happy doing that use the guild finder to find a social PvE guild.

I would recommend https://www.loreseekerspodcast.com/guild/ as this is exactly the thing they’re into.

    Good luck and have fun

Being removed from the dungeon before you have a chance to complete the quest, should largely be a thing of the past now, as the timer is much longer to allow you to remain in dungeon, even if the rest of the group leaves.

As for players sprinting ahead and leaving newer, less experienced players or those undertaking the quest, it is difficult to avoid this, sadly.

I recall being frustrated by this regularly when I was first engaging with dungeon content. It was incredibly frustrating. My advice is ask in group chat politely if folk could wait for you to do the quest, you cannot guarantee folk will wait, but some will. 2nd, try to form groups of people that want to do the quest, joining guilds can help with this or ask in area chats.
