Im wearing a sustain set, potent brew for food, absorb mag glyph on weapon and I still cant sustain. Basically replaying every 2-3 rotations with heavy attacks. If sustain is this terrible, if im going to have practically stop dpsing so replace every other rotation with heavy attacks, why should I even invest in sustain? Im honestly considering saying f it and trying out just not doing anything for sustain and seeing how it goes. If everything I sacrifice for sustain isnt helping me sustain, whats the point?

Also fun fact, im getting higher dps numbers just using my spammable than a full rotation. Seriously 100% not joking. My new rotation is buffs, curse, force pulse spam, cast frag on proc. Reapply curse and buffs as needed. In execute replace force pulse with mages wrath. Im pulling 6k higher with just that than with my full rotation. Just playing around testing it for laughs. You have created a meta that literally rewards braindead no effort skill spamming.

Can we call this a fail yet and go back to pre scalebreaker?

Can we go to pre Elsweyr, pre Morrowind, pre One Tamriel... Every time they make changes, a lot of posts like this. And the outcome? No, we don't go to any pre... Once something is changed, I expect it to be worse next time. When "can we go back to pre Morrowind" started out, I just refused to take part in the crazy Olimpiad of chasing new builds, new classes, new sets and new rotations.

Welcome to my world. My Magplar has never had any recovery above 1000, often much lower. But strapping on enough abilities that give back resources and heavy attacking a lot has more than made up for it in most scenarios.

You’d be surprised how much magic you can get back by dumping a bunch of CP into the line that increases your research return. If I happen to spam through my magic, which since it’s usually around 50K is hard enough, just 2 heavy resto attacks get me back to a manageable level.

For some classes, I have never faced with sustain issues. Such as StamNB, StamDK, StamNec, MagDK

But with Sorcerer it is crazy hard to manage to sustain. MagNB is also not good and after MagTemplar. They need to fix soon.
    Plays:
    Magicka SORC - PvE/PvP
    Stamina NB - PvE/PvP
    Magicka NB - PvE/PvP
    Magicka Templar - PvE
    Stamina Templar - PvP
    Magicka DK - PvE
    Stamina DK - PvE

You just explained perfectly why my Magplar has been in 5 Julianos for most of the last few years. By building around a set that is always considered “pretty good” and not BIS I’ve avoided every major nerf.

Since we seem to be in the same neighborhood let me throw out Grace of the Ancients 3 piece jewelry. I think I’m the only person who uses it, lol. My current build is 5 Juli, 3 GotA, 2 Willpower and a monster set which varies by activity. I’ll switch it from Grothdarr to Chudan’s to an unmatched set (for the highest total resources) frequently. I also love Illambris (I think it’s PVP usefulness is highly underrated in keep attacks/defenses against zergs) but only if I’m running a bunch of fire/shock attacks at once.

    My feelings are very mixed.

MagDK sustain (which was considered the worst for so very long) is surprisingly good with the removal of Combustion cooldown. I have the most expensive abilities in my rotation, including Blockade, Eruption, Engulfing and so on, and I can sustain without heavy attacks. All thanks to full fire dmg arsenal (scalding rune instead of degeneration and so on) and Flame glyph on my Infused Maelstrom Inferno staff.

On the other hand Magplar sustain is absolutely terrible. Solar Barrage cost is damn too high. I know that ZoS considers it an AoE but seriously, who uses it for the AoE dmg? Most of the time you are ranged anyways and you don't care if Solar Barrage hits or not, only permanent empower is what matters. Than, you can't play without Blazing Spear, otherwise you won't be able to proc Burning Light. Channeled Focus simply doesn't cut it.

Magsorc sustain was always bad, so I don't see much of a difference. Adjusted a thing here and there and it's same shiet as usual  What's worst, lightning splash is worse than ever. It was doing a lot less dmg than other dots last patch so it was really though decision to slot it. The synergy was the only reason to slot it. But now, it does little dmg and is a lot more expensive. Additional synergy isn't enough to completely gut my sustain which is bad even without it.

I’ve dropped those expenses AOE skill completely. I just don’t think they’re worth it anymore.

Julianos isnt gonna help you with sustain. That’s the big killer this patch. And of course it hits mag the hardest, especially magplars. Almost no way to sustain even a 3m dummy without going Breton and wearing false gods. Of course, you can always heavy attack, use absorb magicka/recovery glyph, but then your dps goes in the tank.

Ya, magplar took a HUGE hit to sustain, and like you said there is almost no flexibility in builds. You have to run spear shards to keep up the burning light proc. You almost have to run solar barrage for empowerment, and of course wall of elements. Each of which is almost 4k to cast. You do one rotation and your mag is at 50%. And of course they all got a big nerf to damage. You gotta give it to the devs, they sure know how to take the fun out of something.

This is so true, especially in longer fights. Sometimes I read people complain about my healing but what they don't see is the fact that I don't have the fu**ing Magicka left. Fortunately for me, I hold down the left mouse button at all times and heavy attacks do help a lot. Having a mouse with 12 buttons on a side makes it easy to weave. On the negative side, if you are a DPS that is constantly hiding behind me then you most likely always dead :)

Bro, you are little bit too late for the party. All of this was tested, reflexed and discussed 2 month ago. Adjusted builds already released and everyone's dps is on Elsweyr level or 1-3% lower. Just forgot U23 like easy-peasy dumb dot patch which is gone for good.

Aura helps a lot. That’s an extra 480 magic regen for almost no cost. Instead of Breath if Life I use Honor the Dead and get more back. When I’m healing in any content sustaining is easy peezy.

Then I switch to my damage bar and, yeah, not so much.
