Favorite solo/quester class/build?

Hey guys, just got a bit of opinion advice to ask here.

But what is your favorite character, class, build etc. for just roaming the world and solo'ing?

I understand most builds can solo just fine in the game, but i'm coming back after being away for awhile and just want to have some fun questing around. Looking for builds that can solo public dungeons and am just gonna go for story achievements etc. (note: this means that min/maxing for vet dungeons, pvp, etc. isn't necessary).

I'm wobbling between dusting off my magplar or my magsorc right now (which of those two would work best for what i'm looking at?) or finishing off leveling my necromancer (last time i played was the release of Elsweyr when i finished the first zone).

That said, we have the exp buff going on so leveling something new isn't completely off the table so... *shrug*

Just curious what you guys think :)

(p.s. i have enough gold banked to pick up at least some purple crafted sets so gear at least will be semi-decent though not super great).

TL;DR: just coming back and want to clear zones, including public dungeons, on my own. Deciding between magplar and magsorc but open to options. Gear will be crafted and/or zone sets i can get from guild vendors.

Ty all :)

I like all the classes equally the same; no favorite, really. Crazy arse nerfing and skills cost skyrocketing aside, I enjoy the uniqueness of each class's skillset and abilities and enjoy questing and frolicking around Tamriel with every one of my stam, mag and tank toons. Oh, except healer. I don't do healer. Ha ha

Magplar is quite fun for overland content, just spam sweeps :D

Magsorc can be great too, especially if you use a 2 pet build. But the "easy sorc" build is also nice, and doesn't use pets (for those that don't like them).
For soloing dungeons, world bosses, etc., the 1 bar vMA build works quite well.

I've also been experimenting with an unusual(?) soloing build based on Bahraha's Curse, I got very good survivability with it but the damage output is atrociously low (~6k DPS).

Right now I think magplar is best. Magcro can be good too. Sorc used to be my solo go to but the pets die too much especially in overland and they still die in some dungeon fights as well.

Stam sorc with 5pc Vicious Ophidian, 5pc Twice-fanged snake, 2pc stormfist. (I use 5 medium, 1 light, 1 heavy for the undaunted passives) DW front bar, bow backbar. Hurricane+crit surge ❤️

Nightblades of either flavor are fun for the role playing aspects while questing.

MAg DK's have the best animations IMO. I just love breathing fire and whipping my enemies.

I like the mobility of my stamsorc.

Magplars are boring cause you literally only need to use one skill (most of the time).

I just started a necro and it still feels awkward to me.

It really isn’t about class for me, but it’s an opportunity to try some funky armor combinations. For example on my stam warden I put Unfathonable Darkness, Defiler and Maw of the Infernal.

hmmm, ty so far guys :)

i think i'm gonna fire up my sorc and play around a bit. I read up on the 1 bar vMA build and that looks kinda interesting because i'm feeling a bit lazy to go full weapon swap timed rotations...

thinking magsorc running plague doctor and necropotence (looks like i might have to farm a bit for iceheart sometime lmao).

Main bar: 2 pets, unstable wall, liquid lightning, dampen magic. Ult: destro staff storm one

    - mostly stay here for the lulls, with pets and a shield and rocking 3 aoes, not counting heavy spam i can see it work.

Backbar will be buffbar and boss utility.

2 pets, boundless storm, crit surge (for more crit, healing and movement) and daedric prey (keep it up on big boys... likely not needed in most fights). Ult: greater storm atronach (for longer fights)

    That... looks workable... lol.

I literally just spitballed that entire build, gear, etc. just from looking at a few vids online from suggestions etc. here and that actually looks really solid as i stare at it lmao.

    p.s.

i totally feel that on the animations. For me i love lightning... your quote made me start thinking about what animations i wanted to stare at for 100+ (or more) hours of questing if go there... and the above kinda came to me lol.

Why not use the bears with a Warden is it just because of the agro loss? I'm considering coming back and starting a new Warden just for the bear.

Same reason most of my characters are female. If I'm going to stare at someone's behind for 100 hours. . . . . .

For the longest I loved my stamina sorcerer, but it gets boring after awhile. My argonian magicka nightblade was fun, but that's back when a sap tank was a thing. Currently stamina necromancer for the scythe and pulling ranged mobs. Makes repeated trash mobs a bit easier to deal with.

My PvP stamPlar happens to work great in pretty much all content without need for any gear/skill swaps.

    Build: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Special:EsoBuildData?id=103804

Speed capped plus tons and tons of cost reduction for sprinting. Great for mat farming or collecting skyshards.. or knocking out quests/delves/public dungeons quickly.

Of course the impreg 5pc is useless outside of PvP but otherwise the build does fine in PVE. 25k+ dps on 6mil dummy, good AOE, good backup healer, and just fun to play! Have completed all vet DLC dungeons using this PvP build ;P Also perfect for Imperial City.

Just a nightblade with cloak. Makes braindead questing at least a bit more bearable since you are not snared by mobs, who pose no threat and only exist to annoy you, all the time.

I’ve always just spammed sweeps with my Magplar but if you want true easy mode for overland then combine that with the final destro staff skill (it’s a 10 meter AOE that does more damage than most single target skills) and Grothdarr.

You’ll just leave a trail of NPC bodies with no effort. #skill

Magplar and mag sorcerer are my favorites. The burst selfheals are a big part of the reason; if I'm relaxing and screw up a bit, I can heal back up and continue easily.

Necro has that too, but corpse management can be annoying, and so can the problems with using skills in front of NPC witnesses.

Magblade is the easiest one for questing, because you can cloak past every annoying trash pack that isn't part of the quest objective. And if you slot concealed weapon you'll also move faster than if you were not invisible, so there is nothing that can compete with that when it comes to getting your quests done quickly.

Among the 3 classes you mentioned (templar, sorc, necro) I would pick magplar, because you have a charge skill and a spammable that does quite a bit of AoE damage while also healing you. I find that explosive charge+puncturing sweeps works quite fast too for getting around in delves.

If you go stamina, class doesn't really matter, just use 2h weapon, and make sure you have vigor. With 2h you also have a charge and AoE, so you can use the same tactic as with a magplar.

If you go for harder things like world bosses, the safest bet would be some kind of defensive vMA build. But pure damage setups will get you through the boss's health bar quicker, if you can stay alive.

Magplar. You can do almost any content, even world bosses, by spamming sweeps. Helps so much leveling skill lines only needing one ability to do things and being able to load up your bar with skills you need to level.

2nd best would be magblade but they’re mainly fun with speed builds with concealed and Shadowy Disguise.

    Havoc Warhammer - Alair

Stamblade hands down, solid damage, sustain and self heals, bow gives you great movement speed, and cloak lets you bypass soooo much trash if you are running through a delve etc.

So I've been working on tweaking with this build outline for Stamcro https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/477693/stamina-necromancer-solo-pve-build

Tbh, I'm not a great player and I'm still low CP and have to slot the healing mage since I'm pulling lots of mobs to me. I'm not as good at using the corpse mechanic, but I'm working on figure that out.
Basically I buff, endless hail/beckoning armor, and brawler a few times until execute. But I like switching it up, and reacting to the battle vs hitting my rotation. It feels good to charge into battle while your arrows rain down and you're swinging your 2h as everyone else is pulled to your deadly zone.
It's really fun! I've solo'd public dungeons, but not WB yet. Never could do that on my other characters!

ty for all the replies guys, but i think i'm officially in love with my sorc again lmao.

As stated above, i love lightning effects, so i fired her up. No clue when i played her last but she is in the middle of half a dozen quest lines. One of which was just getting to coldharbor on the main line so i figured i'd go finish it up.

Spent a little time fishing around guild vendors for a starter crafted set (she had apparently never been magicka... level 3 destro staff lmao) and got her up and running with a quick respec, re-champion, etc. etc.

Went into coldharbor... and for one, she is an aoe goddess. Lots of pets (i hear they got nerfed, but they still seem to do pretty good) and effects i enjoy.

Then about 2 minutes ago i ran across a world boss and figured i'd give it a go... as a rusty, crafted/world geared mag sorc.

And i proceeded to destroy said world boss without much of a sweat.

    <3

Feelin happy to be back in the ESO saddle again. Cheers guys =D

Hack the minotaur has some nice solo builds, might be worth checking out. Mag sorc/templar/warden all have a relatively easy time of it in solo play.
