I have problems with a fake wired Xbox 360 controller and a real Microsoft Xbox One controller when playing ESO for the past couple days. And it's more than just after crafting as well.
FYI from dev:
Why isn’t my controller working when playing The Elder Scrolls Online on PC / Mac?

We are aware of an issue that causes the left anolog stick from functioning properly in Gamepad mode after using a crafting station to create, deconstruct, or refine multiple items or materials.
While we work to resolve this issue, you may be able to bypass the issue by avoiding the multi-crafting options when using a crafting station. If the issue does occur, you can resolve the issue by logging out and back into the game.
Keep an eye on our Patch Notes forum for any updates at

To activate your controller on PC / Mac, perform the following steps after you have logged into one of your characters:
Navigate to Settings.
Select Gameplay.
Toggle the option for Gamepad Mode to On.
To revert back to your PC UI, turn the Gamepad Mode option to Off.
