Does anyone play on both PC and Console?

Eddie_Robertson
I'm new to the game and really starting to get into it. I own it both on PC and XBOX One X. To be honest it looks better (to me) on the XBOX on a 65 in 4k tv. My PC isn't amazing (Ryzen 5, Geforce 1060 6mb with a 2k LG 34 ultra wide monitor. I have one of my XBOX's on a HDMI switch so i can play it at my desk on a monitor or kicked back on the tv. I could do the same for PC with an HDMI switch using a controller.

I just don't want to get lost leveling and playing on two platforms and losing interest if that makes sense. I'm looking for a community if you know what I mean.

Also I'm older with shaky hands from the diabetus so sometimes it's easier one way or the other. I might get one of those elite controllers with the paddles on the back for mapping things like run and jump not sure though.

I guess I'm just looking for advice. Do you play both? If you have tried both and now only play one of them can I ask which one and why? If it's because you have a 3000 computer and it looks amazadoodle with mods and shaders and that's the sole reason it will make it easier for me.

I expect a few answers like:

KB/M > all

Console pleb

All Your Base Are Belong To us

Those are all fine and are also helpful :)

Other than platform, any other words of encouragement for someone very new to the game? (for reference on my history I started Everquest on day 1 Mach 1999 - when I was 31) so I was raised into a clicker mindset. Is there a mod that I can use to move / enlarge my abilities bar and then click a skill if I'm being lazy/panicky? I don't think with my arthritis that I can stretch to 1 2 3 4 5 with comfort or stamina.

Guilds that welcome new, completely uninformed semi basket case grandpa's?

Any input or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

    I have ESO on PS4 and PC. Being completely honest, PC is just a more stable platform, better performance, and with more customization options. For example, if you go with a gamepad, you can customize each button for the controller on PC, but on console you're stuck with just the 3 templates.

    ESO on console isn't "unplayable", but consoles aren't the most effective machines to run ESO on. The hardware just isn't the greatest. They're good if you're on a budget, though.

    There's also a matter of the crown store, DLC, and the insane prices of things available for purchase. At some point, you'll either go broke trying to support your habit on both or you will want to just play on one or the other.

    I recommend PC.

    As someone with an arthritis-like disease, controller usage is a must in games. That said, if you use a controller, play on console. GamepadUI on PC is vastly broken, and you *will* need to use a keyboard for many things because there is simply no way to do them in gamepadUI. Also, if you use gamepadUI on PC you are horribly at a disadvantage against other players, even in simple things like farming or DPS.

    I now regret not switching to console when I had the chance, but I don't want to restart all over again. Plus lose all my friends and guilds.

    I play on both XB and PC. I started on PC and then bought the transfer to console. I still do play some on PC, as my spouse is still mainly PC (and he plays some on console with me), but I mostly play on XB, as I just prefer gaming on console.

    Of the two, I think load times and graphics are better on PC. Well, graphics are smoother, but I love the look of the console version with HDR. On an XB One X with an SSD, load times aren't too bad - very rarely will I get the unusually long load time message. I don't PvP, though, so I can't speak to performance on console there.

    If you want to stay on PC, I highly recommend the Lone Wolf Help guild. It's intended for solo players and they're a very friendly and helpful group.

    I started on PC but now I play on PS4. I still have my character on PC and rarely I login.

    I kind of feel I should've stuck with PC and not shifted to PS4.

    Thank you all!

    laura - i get sore using kb/m to play as well. I also sit at a keyboard all day at work so by gaming time I'm already wearing compression gloves soaked in bio freeze. I can game on the controller without to much trouble unless it's a FPS type game. Then I grip the controller to tight or something and my hands give out pretty fast. A relaxed grip is OK. The XBOX Elite 2;s come out on the 4th so i might pick one up and give it a go.

    I feel the same way about the look Jayne. It just pops for me on the 4k. It's probably my computers fault though.

    I'm worried about the same kind of regret sid. I will do some more research / install some mods and play around with the PC settings. I hear what your say frog about the PC. I wonder if Santa will build me a new one?

    Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the help.

    I started on PS4 and recently moved to PC. Generally, I'd say I prefer the look/feel on console (haven't tried gamepad mode on PC so I'm not sure if the console look carries over or not). I'd still choose PC in spite of that though.

    You gain so much from even just the basic add ons, but the load times alone make it worth the switch. I just got so fed up with unreasonably long loading screens on console...it took longer to switch between characters than to do each one's crafting writs, sell and deposit afterward. I'd sometimes wait 3 minutes in a loading screen only to see it freeze, restart the game, wait 3 minutes to get to the character select, wait 2 minutes to get into the game, and reattempt my teleport only to crash again. That kind of thing just became way too common.

    The only thing keeping me from switching wholeheartedly was the regret of losing all my collections, progress, and resources.

    So I had the game on PS4 pro.
    Imo the PC looks far better hands down no comparison. I play at 1440p on a 52" tv upscaled to 4k.
    The only advantage on PS4 is that it supports HDR.
    Not that it's bad on console it's just better in PC imo.

    I played on xbox one x EU and found the population although okay, it's alot smaller than PC. I also feel PC PC alot more friendly and has addons that can make life alot easier. I personally would suggest you play on PC. I now play on PC with my controller still by plugging in the charge cable and it works fine for me. Hope that helps :) since changing I find it hard to go back to console.

    I want to add that if you have a decent PC then PC is the better option. I play on PC but on a TV as well because I don't like playing on a monitor. If your PC isn't down for the task of running at higher frame rates then console it's a good option too.

    Just rebind the keys to something that is closer to WASD. E.g.,
    1 = q
    2 = e
    3 = r
    4 = f
    5 = spare mouse button

    Some additional bindings that I find useful.
    c = ultimate
    alt = switch bars
    middle mouse button = roll dodge
    ctrl = potion
    sneak = `

    Even better if you have some more buttons on the mouse. Ctrl and ` are a bit of a bother.

    Not sure about arthritis, of course, just a general suggestion.

    I used to play on both ps4 and pc. I found that ps4 (pro in my case) was more stable regarding graphics, fps, lag etc. but the lack of proper chatting abilities and no addons made me switch back to pc. Your pc according to the specs is better then mine, and I run the game on ultra settings with a stable 60fps. So its really up to you what you prefer.

    Back then I switched from ps4 with 1000cp to PC. I'm not regretting it, eso is fun on any console I believe, but consoles have just a different vibe compared to pc, thats what makes it feel unique/good. But performance wise the PC is way ahead.

    I'm still playing on a controller btw, feels pretty much like Playstation 7 if that makes sense.

    Anyway hope that helps you making a decision.

    i started on ps4 and then switched to pc.

    - There are addons on pc but i dont use them. There is one addon called Assist Rapid Riding, though and it is a game changer. It is must have for cyrodiil pvp.

    - Prices in guild stores are cheaper on pc, when selling crowns you get more gold but carries like vDSA, trials, skins, etc. cost twice as much, maybe even more. Finding what you are looking for far easier due to tamrieltradecenter.

    - Finding a guild for end game PvE far more easier on pc. Veteran trials, etc. If you are into that i wouldnt even consider playing on console.

    - I play with a controller with pedals, also on pc. Option to switch between k&m and controller is definitely useful on pc because ESO is barely playable with a controller without pedals. The biggest problem for an ESO player with controller is where to assign the damn weapon swap. You definitely need a paddle for that. Even with pedals, controller is still not very comfortable. Also, on pc you can customise your controller button layout however you want. If you want to play with k&m, i would recommend something like Razer Naga as mouse with bunch of side buttons, where you assign abilities.

    - There are severe performance issues in trials or cyrodiil on console due to hardware limitations. Also loading times..

    - On pc, there is PTS where you can try new stuff but i dont use it. You also get big updates first.

    - I feel like pc community is more live, more knowledgeable and better and more interested in gaming in general. Console sometimes feels like bunch of uninterested people playing an mmorpg , grinding, etc. just to kill time. And most of the streamers are on pc.

    As a conclusion, i wouldnt play it on the current generation consoles, but when PS5 comes out i may once again switch to console, just because of how comfortable it is, and i dont play any other games on pc besides ESO. So, i wont need two machines, then. But i am not interested in guilds or PvE, or community in general, otherwise, i would definitely stay on pc. And i am going to use a controller with pedals. If i havent already had an account on console, and has to choose one i would definitely choose pc. I think you should play it on pc with a controller with pedals. You can never go wrong with pc. But ESO on console is not for everyone really. Actually, i only had a ps4 and didnt own a pc, i liked ESO so much, that i built a pc just to play ESO. I dont regret my decision, even after i had to grind all the way back to high cp, gear, chars, skills, etc. in around 700-800 hours.

    Wow. I really appreciate all of the help. I think I am definitely leaning towards PC, I just need to figure my settings to get it looking like I think it should.

    Do you all use shaders at all? I'm sure some folks run 0 to a few mods and others run giant list. Is there a list somewhere (I'll start searching the forums) of the top 10 most have QoL mods?

    I have a Naga Trinity with the extra buttons on the side. I will give it a whirl and see if I can find a comfortable rotation.

    Again, you all have been amazingly helpful and nice. Probably the nicest game community I have ran across inha while so a big thank you!

    You can also use a controller on PC. It makes targeting more difficult and missing buttons to bind things like synergy and ultimate sucks, but it’s doable.

    I played on ps4 and pc.

    First on Pc
    Then on Ps4
    And now back to Pc and staying there, have wasted so mutch money... x) but it depends what type you are tho if you would like to play like a singelpayer game and just chill with the stroy then ps4 for sure or Xbox in your case

    But if you would like to play it just the way you want, then PC for sure! if you want roleplay, grouplay, go for high-endgame you would want to play on PC with addons you can alter everthing to the smallest ting,

    Like me for ex, i have a add-on that let me put keybind to emotes and walk/run so when i am in mood for RP i act like a char in the story. and when it comes to end-game its where usefull to just press one key and you have switched your skill/gear to the right content

    Hope this helps :)

    I found that the biggest thing between the two since you have an xbox one x is the latency is a bit better on pc, and the add ons are really helpful. The other thing that everyone here is not realizing is that you can remap the buttons for your whole controller in the xbox settings. If you want to switch games then you might have to switch back but otherwise you can map your buttons, sticks, triggers, and even the d-pad. PC is a little better when it comes to being beginner friendly as well.
