How much heavy attacking are we talking about?

As a console player, of course I won't be able to touch the patch for awhile longer.
So, as the title asks, how bad is sustain in Dragonhold really?

Are you going full heavy attack rotation? Medium weaving more? Still just light attack weaving?

Not talking about recovery or reduce cost enchants...already planning to do some of that. Mainly asking about how weaving is feeling in Dragonhold and what to expect.

Thank you for your time.

On my (main) Breton magden wearing perfected False Gods with Degeneration on my front bar and keeping Netch up, I don’t need to HA almost at all. I DO have LA weaving down pat, so I get a lot of mag back from that. I tend to spend a lot of time on the lower end of magicka, so I’m certainly less comfortable with that, but thus far I haven’t had to swap out a spell damage jewelry glyph for a mag recovery one and I’m still running a Berserker enchant on my back bar staff. I didn’t actually run the Netch in Scalebreaker -didn’t have the bar space + didn’t need it- so it’s a bit of an adjustment for me but nothing major. My magblade is also doing OK. I’m having issues with my magplar, but that’s probably just me.

I think I’d have a much harder time if I was a different race and didn’t have perfected FGD.
I haven’t done anything with a stam toon since the patch hit, but from what I understand stam chars are having an easier time with sustain- at least my friends who play stam are.

Degeneration no longer restores magicka when LAing the target.

The sustain is definitely weird, since a lot of AoEs and DoTs got their costs increased. On the other hand, some of them got nerfed so hard, they aren't worth running either. Still, doing a dummy parse might once again require slotting spell symmetry, depending on class/race/etc. In trials, you might need to do a few more HAs, but there are also several factors that determine how many and how often - what kind of trial, what kind of class and race you are, what kind of skills you are using, etc. Now, however, it will be more important for support roles to run some additional sustain sets (symphony was untouched, hollowfang thirst is still good in stacked situations, for example). If you were already raiding with a competent group, though, you shouldn't notice too big of a difference after everyone adjusts their builds.

Depends on your build and class
There are only 2 I can speak for from experience:

Magplars are in a bad spot because they really need spears and unstable wall and maintaining them both is hard
Magsorcs are fine because you can summon your pets and just ignore them for single target, and in trash pulls FG will make up the difference in maintaining the familiar (tormentor enrage is never worth using, ever)

You'll definitely want some sort of sustain however. My sorc is a Breton, so he's fine with 2 stat food.
my magplar is a dunmer so I'm running clockwork and absorb mag backbar

Right, it's for the Mages Guild passives.

As a nord stamplar [woo 0 sustain] using bone pirate and NMA I havn't really noticed much of a change in sustain since the patch hit, inspite of the cost increase on NMA & Overall power cost.

so simply put, people are [mostly] over-reacting about it, if you're paying attention and willing to be a little more..adaptable you should manage fine without heavy attacking too often if at all [personally i get by without HA or repentance just fine]

You're definitely going to have to deal with sustain issues to some degree. Whether it be gear or race that reduce costs, minimal use of AOE's, magicka return glyphs and/or skills, HA's. CP's...some or all of them. No matter what, it's likely to take a big chunk out of your DPS...but I guess that's the whole idea behind this patch.

Personally, I think this combat team talks a big game...but doesn't really have a clue as to what players actually enjoy. You want to lower the ceiling of DPS? Fine. But to do it via high skill costs that amount to annoying sustain issues is not very creative...and sure doesn't add up to anything resembling fun. :/

ZOS has stated that the target audience of these changes are elite 100k parse players, but they won't be much affected at all. Poor guys will have to live with parses in the 80's to 90's. The rest of us...well...we're just acceptable collateral damage.
