Quick reminder that Zenimax owns Bethesda

Just saying that all the things happening with Bethesda and Trashfire 76, Zenimax owns them, and isnt doing ANYTHING about it. So it really shouldnt be suprising that "things" happen to this game as well and nothing is done about it. And never will be.

Parent company. Their job is to make money: Zenimax Media Inc.
Publishing company. Their job is sell games: Bethesda Softworks.
Game Studio. Their job is to make games: Zenimax Online Studios. Bethesda Game Studios. Arkane Studios. MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, id Software.

ZOS does not own Bethesda. ZMI does.

Direct your complaints about Fallout 76 to either ZMI, BS, or BGS. Not towards ZOS.

Well... I think whatever FO76 has, it's contagious... FO76 failled so hard they're turning it into an ESO clone... adding NPCs and story quests, same subscription model and overpriced cosmetics. Let's face it, ESO is their big successful multiplayer game.

But instead of having people who can make decisions to make FO76 better, they only made the money driven decision to replicate ESO's success there...

@Marto My main point is still the same, the big bosses dont care what the little people do and just let it burn. Its all under "Zenimax Media Inc."

    Found this interesting about Zenimax

    "ZeniMax Media
Altman resumed his Washington legal practice after the trial. In May 1999, he cofounded ZeniMax Media with Bethesda Softworks founder Christopher Weaver, as a new parent company for Bethesda.[8][9] Altman was brought in as CEO, with Weaver serving as CTO.[10] Weaver was pushed out of an operational role in 2002, and filed a related lawsuit that was settled out of court.

Active board members include Jerry Bruckheimer, Cal Ripken Jr. and Robert S. Trump.[11]"

Les Moonves (ex CEO fired from CBS for s. harassment) is also an investor.

    FO76 ... subscription model

I only just found out about that. No wonder I've been hearing roaring laughter outside for the last few days.

Its a little bit weird because introducing a subscription model for a game that was so riddled with problems that it was dead on arrival doesn't make any sense except for FO76. I mean, pretty much every single aspect of FO76 has been problematic. Textures to game play to servers to the marketing gimmicks even, broken. Just broken. So of course it makes sense that there would also be a subscription model. Which is also doesn't work properly! :joy::lol::joy:

Sad too, because I had hoped that 76 would at least be a decent "FO4 with multiplayer" ish survival game. Nothing grand mind you. Just something that was fun to play that you wouldn't mind spending $20 for. Instead it's like someone at Bethesda is doing absolutely everything they can think of to sabotage the Fallout IP so badly that nobody will go near it for the rest of time.

I suspect a lot of those players haven't played mmo's before. I was like that too when i first came to eso, so I can fully understand why people are ridiculing it. The pricing was appalling for cosmetics, but over time you become immune to the absurd pricing. The sub is garbage and the only thing that seems to make it different from eso, eso also provides access to dlc during the duration of your sub. I suspect Bethesda will go this route too as and when dlc lands. After all, as time passes, more people will defend the value of the subs because they too will become immune to paying through the nose for absolute garbage so it's probably worth the early ridicule Bethesda get. I mean, most of us pay the eso sub price because it cuts a huge part of the inv micromanagement out of the game, not because it's actually worth what they're asking for it.

I get money is needed to keep servers up, but the servers are still trash, but the gouging continues and enough people think them buying over priced junk helps keeps those servers up. So ZoS won't nor need to change anything. I'd be surprised if anything more than sub fees and actual game/dlc sales keeps the servers up. All that fluff in the crown store and the crown crates are probably just pure profit for Zenimax.

@Marto, not that it matters, but my lanyard from when I was out there also includes Battlecry Studios and Escalation Studios. Any idea on those two?

I think I read battlecry studios dissolved when the game they were working on “Battlecry” got cancelled.

Escalation I have never heard of, but I would imagine something similar happening there.

Greetings, we've closed this thread and removed a handful of comments as this thread has derailed. This is a reminder that real-world politics is not an acceptable topic of discussion on the ESO forums. Please take some time to review our rules prior to posting. Thank you.
