Ignore Doesn't Work?

Why is it that when I put other players on ignore, their characters still show up in game? There's this particular nuisance in Vivec City on the EU server and all they do is play the Esraj - the most annoying instrument in the game. They even named their character accordingly. Of course the best solution is to simply block the idiot, but apparently that doesn't work. They're on ignore yet they still manage to annoy people. What's the point of this ignore system really, if it doesn't prevent us from running into these annoying people in game?

Ignore means you will no longer see their messages in chat and they can not whisper you. That is all it does.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

Being able to completely hide other players would be a bit extreme.

How about a toggle to switch off player generated sound, save for combat effects etc, such as that deafening explosion when some mounts appear?

I must admit I do find that particular instrument a strain on the ears, though the in game singer in Rimmen sounds fine. It's when another player is doing it. I gather it's a Khajiit thing, but does it need to sound like a bag of scalded cats?

Ah, the new tradition: several players playing esraj near crafting areas. All detuned. Mind blowing imo lol literally lol

Ignoring them doesn't mean you will stop listening to the sounds/music they produce. Can't you mute the sound while you are near them?

When I'm not in the mood, I just try to be near the area for the least amount of time possible.

I mean they're blocking someone for playing an Esraj instead of walking away from them. They probably aren't the shining example of stability.

I remember in one area by a wayshrine I decided to check out some emotes, so I had the lute bc the songs sounded good, then shortly after another user joined in and played the flute and we just played instruments for 15-20 minutes.

    Good times.

I have seen this person I think, and whenever I do it's just 2 single person. I find 1 esraj sounding nice so I don't mind it at all.

But now, because you complain it's likely people will join him... Which honestly doesn't matter much to me since it's the crafting area, I only run past them momentarily and when at the craft stations they become muted anyways.
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

I'd be down to make block also stop emotes from playing on the client side, and make you untargetable by momentos.

If a certain grim figure, perhaps a troll, wanders into an RP scene and is blocked, I will not see or hear his emotes nor will he be able to throw mud balls at me. Seems fair imho.

Having them be invisible is too easily exploited.

This isn't correct. If you PVP in bgs you'll quite often have people ignore you, and then send you salty whispers. If you try to reply, your message does not appear and it also does not say account not found.

when eso launched in 2014 they said you can set yourself to offline mode. and even your guild mates AND people you set on ignore would be in a different instance than you the next time you logged in.
i do not think that changed, although it might have.

i wonder if all "new" zones made after a certain date no longer held that same codeing of the ignore feature and offline feature that was once held.
for example: battle grounds and Vvardenfell, as those zones were created many years after launch.

No, it wouldn't. I've had perverts hound me and people stay with me a long time teabagging me constantly. I need to be able to have the ignore function erase completely. No seeing them, no being pugged together in dungeons with them, no hearing them, no seeing their messages, etc. I'm tired of the harassment. There needs to be a stronger version of ignore. Not everyone has to use it.

The singer in Rimmen uses another instrument, an sort of mix of an harp and an guitar.

Game is set to try to put you in an instance with people in group, friends, guild mates and not people you ignore
But this depend on how many instances it is and also server load, including the instance parser.
In short it works sometimes :)
However have done Borglor delve runs were I have used wayshrines and ended up with group over and over so the group part probably work if all is in same instance at the start.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I've had my entire active online guild play the esraj, flutes, the lute and spam the dragon horn at me because they know it annoys me (They wern't being mean, I just complain about the esraj and dragon horn spam a lot). I think you'll be fine if you move 20ft away from the player so you can't hear the instrument. If you're crafting or banking, it mutes it.

Im the player who could stand at a location by myself, and within a few minutes, I will be surrounded by players doing emotes and spamming resto. They probably think your character looks cool and just want to be silly.

Its an MMO, you can't just remove every player from the game because you don't like what they're doing. If the players are genuinely doing something against the rules then you can report them and putting them on ignore will stop you seeing anything they write anyway. Tbagging happens in basically every game that has a crouch button.
