The added disadvantage with standardization of skills

When everything is standardized - it also means every class will use the exact same sets...even less variety

ZOS will really have to MASSIVELY step up their class identity and build variety game...otherwise this mmo will become very boring very fast... and i can see a lot of people only logging in to quickly play through the new storylines and then leave again...

    If everything is standardized correctly, it wouldn't matter to what sets you wear, at least damage wise, as all the sets bonuses are around the same. I actually have 9 dps and none of them wear the same armor and they all get around the same DPS.

    and due to the amazingly shortsighted sustain nerfs, now everyone is spending more time on the LMB than using abilities.

    At this rate a year from now combat will be 3 buttons. 1 attack, 1 CC, 1 heal.

    Build more sustain into your toon? I have only tried my Bowden but she has 1300 regen just from being a wood elf and stormfist, cleared CoS no problem doing 50% of the group does of around 60k, never heavy attached once. This sort of talk looks like you guys don't even want to try. And that is okay though but you got to realize then that maybe this is not the game for you.

    That’s already true to some extent. Every viable build contains a spammable, a DoT, some kind of ranged attack, a CC, a self heal and a shield. And I haven’t seen that act as a break on players’ build creativity.

    The standardisation is that all spammables will have a roughly similar cost and damage, similarly all DoTs, HoTs etc. This balance hopes to prevent one Class being superior to another simply through power. This is essential otherwise all PvP becomes a one Class borefest.

    It doesn’t mean that all spammables do the same kind of damage as within each Class the skills should reflect the Class identity, so a DK’s skills will be different from a Warden’s but will do largely the same damage for the same cost.

    As always some sets will be better than others. But that’s true now as almost every stam build uses Relequen’s. And there was a point when Sload’s was everywhere, then Spell Strategist. Come to think of it there are whole guilds which you can’t even join unless you have vMA weapons....

    Hasn’t stopped lots of players developing builds they like that work perfectly for them that contain none of the above.
