So I started to play with summerset and there were always people in the cities, I saw life in them, in elsewyr when I go to Rimmen to buy something at the traders I see no one at the shops when they launched the expansion there was people there but not anymore even during the event I saw people just killing the dragons and rimmen was desertic.
Is that people made the story and left? Are they in another area of the city? Did they move all to vivec?
Well I have been thinking about this for days and with the extended mantainance I decided to ask because I only go there ocasionaly to buy from the traders. I know that at launch it was full but now is empty or when I go there I see rimmen empty.

I can almost never leave Sugar Bowl Suite without someone spawning right on top of me. Just my experience.

Some of the issue is burnout - it's easy to spend too much time focusing on event-related activities, and then players need a bit of a break or change to catch up with other stuff (including other zones/questlines/surveys) during the break between events. That said, during the event, a LOT of people were doing crafting writs in Rimmen for the double gold benefit; and last week, one of my guild traders was in Rimmen and did pretty well. Keep in mind too that there are multiple "shards" for busy zones for performance reasons - players present in a zone are split between two or more instances, so you won't ever see all the players in the same zone, and you will land in a lower population shard when you login to a busy zone.

My experience is that Rimmen is still fairly well used. It will drop off a lot for the rest of October though, as many people dive into the new Dragonhold DLC, and starting Thursday, head out to kill bosses for the Witchmother's Festival rewards. There is a dragonguard event scheduled for later on in November though, which will bring many players back into Northern Elsweyr and Rimmen for a couple of weeks.

I hate this place, like the rest of Elsweyr - it is strongly associated for me with terrible nerfs, dead classes, destroyed PvP and stupid "Justice system".

Small zone, interest in which is exhausted once you finish the story line. There are better layouts for a base in which to park your characters, such as Vivec. Add to that the burnout from the recent event where everyone and their cousin was felling dragons

Between content lull plus Elseweyr isn't a great zone for farming; the best concentration of nodes has a mob every 2 feet, the overland sets aren't worth that much to sell. The player base is now spread over the entire game instead of sticking to the newest area.

Ok so there is people there, I will take a closer look one of those days when I have time.
Oh man you just said you earned double the gold for doing the writs during the event, I did not understood that.
Ah shards i did not know that, it is something I wanted to ask too because I enter a delve sometimes there is someone at the gate but I saw no one outside I get out with him and again no one outisde. So it is the mega server with instances, ok. Yes most likely got to a low population instance then.

I "home base" each of my characters in different zones. Even if I only log in to do their crafting daily, I try to hit each one every day. The Rimmen based character does her craft writs and trains her riding skill there. Saw quite a few characters each time I did these, but not as many as during the recent event. Have to agree with several of the comments above that the most likely cause is zone event burnout.

I dont like zone in general and bought Elsweyr only for new class. Never been there except of start location of training zone. Cats and flying dolmens makes no joy for me.

I dont think zos can create something more attractive than summerset imo.

I have 10 toons parking at Rimmen cause I used to do dragons on all of 'em. I don't do dragons anymore but I just don't feel like moving. Rimmen's acturally not that bad, the wayshrine is central to crafting area, stable, bank, refuge, dailys and traders.

This isn't unusual. The new DLC cities always thin out once people finish the content. That being said: I still see plenty of people when I go to Rimmen.

Elsweyr gained a lot of players and lost more. Elsweyr has been on discount a lot for such a small amount of time. The zone is a pain to deal with because of elevation and how badly spread out the wayshrines are. The crafting area for writs and bank location isn't as great as vivec city. So the zone is inconvenient.

Starting with Summerset, ~95% of all new chapters tend to be a retread of the same old content. Putting stripes on a wolf doesn't make it something new. Sure, the artwork is incredible, a dragon you can fight a few times before it becomes boring, and you have a new trial or dungeon here or there, but the game play is static and the new quests silly and uninspiring. Also, starting with Nerfmire, all new content becomes associated with unstable and extreme nerfs to combat, which perpetuates the trend of further sweeping enthusiasm to the gutter. ZOS says they're "killing it". I think they may be right.

This seems to be pretty accurate, whether or not is has a direct effect on population. If you take a look at Wrothgar, this zone is always somewhat busy. I see people farming, killing WBs, and questing everytime I go to this zone. But Elsweyr is not a great place to farm, the sets are not that great, and the dragons/quests/scenery seem to be the main reasons to stay in this zone still.

What's with all these topics asking why people aren't in Rimmen or hunting dragons? Is this all people are allowed to do?
