Player Character dead for weeks

I don't remember when I first noticed that this guy was always dead in the same place but I got screenshots from 10/1, 10/6, 10/12, 10/18. Dead in the same place, same level.

Without contributing much if at all to the issue at hand (and the handle hints that it might be an accidentally killed bot, owner of which forgot to give it a checkup), I would still hope that it's the character that is dead, and whoever player is, they're alive and well. ^^ Because geez I was freaked out by the thread title!

Or maybe this guy is a ultra hardcore RPer who treats is character death as a perma death. he was probably frolicking in the forest picking berries and got teabagged to death by a pack of EP brutes

Why do we play this game? Well. People usually like PvE, role playing, fashion, questing, achievs and/or housing activities, while my thing is more PvP oriented. Of course, others may also like logging on to find out if the mysterious rotting lizard player body is still at the same place than yesterday, as well as making use of the opportunity to perfect their photographer talent.

That's not a typical bot name, and a level 10 bot wouldn't be in Coldharbour anyway. Perhaps it's just some left over code that got stuck and left a ghost image of the player there, when in fact he rezzed and left long ago. Check after Monday's update when the server resets, see if he is still there.

The bots I saw so far had all different kind of names - but this one has already a good hint in the @name
level 10 bots are very normal as far as I reported them.
You can transport to coldharbour wayshrine on any level.

So that theory is still valid for me.
Another guess: Maybe it's a ZOS dummy/testchar or whatever?

Gamemasters have the Gamemaster title in their name so this is not of them.

They also have a little z in a box if they ever type in chat.

This guy is most likely a bot. There was a thread earlier in the year about a new paid bot program that allows your character to stay online even if your game is not. I don't know much about it. The thread was taken down before I finished reading it.

I don't know why people pay money to have a program play for them but that is not fun for me at all. Yeah, they are probably making good gold but it's still game money and absolutely useless in the real world. You play games for fun, not for making fake money lol

I just don't get it but maybe because I'm old now. These kids today. What are they doing?

This is where you have a mistaken belief that virtual gold/lindens(second life) and many other virtual currencies have no monetary value in the "real world". To be blunt, there are gold ressellers, and that is where bots like this come into place. It is illegal as it goes against TOS/EULA. This is an over 20+ year old issue in the MMO world. So you ask why or what these "kids" are doing today? They are making money in real world thru reselling accounts, game currency and items even in game. It is nothing new.

And many botters though are not actually this blunt or naive to say "bot" in their name which this person does. It would be nice it there was a time out again if you were dead or found to be stationary for too long. Might help keep instances clean a little bit.

I saw someone rez him the other day. It just said pending. I'm assuming it timed out. I didn't stick around.

"chance'sbot_25" sounds pretty botty to me and anyone can port to Coldharbour at any level if they have a friend/guildie to port to.

I have seen this guy in the game, long before any threads were started here, and I have never witnessed anything that I would call botting. This is a normal player, with an unsual name, and the main interesting thing about this is his name. He is destined to become a celeb in the game, like the guy who sleeps on bridges.

You must be mistaken. I don't recall ever referring to this character as a "bot". I only was bringing it to attention that there was a dead character for months on end. Now that he is no longer laying dead the character is standing by the wayshrine, jumping every 20 seconds or so.

Now, with this latest activity, I would say that it is unlikely a long logged out account that the character never disappeared from display. Something making a character do something every x amount of seconds is by definition a bot controller.

SO, yes, I do call it likely a bot NOW. Unless someone is sitting at their keyboard tapping the jump key every x amount of seconds which is unlikely.
