Alchemist based build, insights needed.

For quite some time I'm brooding on a build that gets it's advantage from potions mainly.
The challenge is that I'm a total noob in building, I possess ample knowledge about how everything is interlaced within ESO, but it would be nice to create a themed build viable for the mid-section of the game, with a mild preference for DPS in PvP. That is the part I'd need insights on.

These are my wild ponderings sofar:

The cool thing about potions is that you can change your edge during and outside a fight.
Disadvantage is the cooldown period, you'd need to stock up on a considerable amount of different types of potions, & imbibing in a timely manner.

To get the most out of potions, Argonian would be a good race, as they gain back a little of all three resources (magica, stamina and health) from drinking a potion.
(Might be severely biased, as I play one, but really, they are the best choice)

To minimalize potion cooldown, jewelry can be enchanted with glyphs of Potion Speed:
Alchemy1.png

This enhances gaining recources for an Argonian. I think it would be even better for example combined with Leeching Strikes for a Stamblade.
If the character can keep is resources up that way, then potions can be less about resources and more about other valuable features (unstoppable, detection, invisibility, critical/weapon/spell -damage, etc) which can be used more frequently.

With a decreased cooldown (currently have a 26 seconds cooldown on my testsubject stamplar (lvl 28), some sets might offer a better synergy:
- Clever alchemist, 5 set bonus: 15 sec 600 dmg boost after drinking a potion during combat.
- Skooma Smuggler, 5 set bonus: 30 seconds Major Expedition after drinking a potion, still need to check this one out to see if the information I have isn't outdated, but if not, then you can basically keep Major Expedition up 100% of the time.

I'm curious as well whether weapon traits like Charged and Infused are applicable to poisons.

Does someone have more obscure knowledge about sets / other / discrepancies to be aware of, that would improve an Alchemy build?

Nightblade has the “Catalyst” passive which gives ultimate after you drink a potion

Nice one, not in game right now, but google says 20 ultimate after imbibing a potion, better then some sets out there if it can be done on reduced cool down. Going to set up a Nightblade this evening.

Argonian (resources back from potions) + Nightblade (20 ulti from potions) + Clever Alchemist (661 spell power for 15 seconds when drinking potion) + Moon Hunter (the set, 600 spell damage when your alchemical poison fires). Boom. Alchemist build with insane burst.

Bright Throat's might be a Provisioning benefit, rather than Alchemy-related.

    Moonhunter looks interesting, thanks!

Lol, it does sound good, would love to see it in practice!

There are different sets that are connected to Alchemy. Such as,

    Widow Maker
    Assassin's Guile
Deadly Strikes (increasing damage health poisons)
    Moon Hunter

Alchemy poisons can activate several item set conditions. For example, health damaging poisons activates Valkyn Skoria . Also the unstoppable potion effect does activate Steadfast to gain Major Protection to remove snares or immobilization. Not always on demand but very close. So, the possibility is limitless to create a viable and capable Alchemy build. And, the jewelry glyphs paired with the Argonian racial Resourceful pushes that passive into overdrive.

    Argonian Mageblade

    5 Clever Alchemist
    - (2 Items) Adds 1206 Maximum Health
    - (3 items) Adds 1206 Maximum Health
    - (4 items) Adds 129 Spell Damage
    - (4 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage
    - (5 items) When you drink a potion increase your Weapon and Spell Damage by 653 for 15 seconds.

    5 Skooma Smuggler
(2 items) Adds 1096 Max Magicka
(3 items) Adds 129 Magicka Recovery
(4 items) Adds 129 Spell Damage
(5 items) When you drink a potion, you gain Major Expedition for 30 seconds, increasing your Movement Speed by 30%.

2 Molag Kena or Balorgh (or any other monster/arena weapons/2 piece you want)

5/2 heavy and light, DW/resto (or frost)
all jewelry infused, 2 with potion speed, one with spell damage.

I used this as a melee brawler burst build for a while. Tons of resources with 100% uptime on major expedition and 50% uptime on clever alchemist and immovable.

To also fit the theme, make sure you have the following CP options:
    - Foresight
(Unlocks at The Apprentice Rank 75) Reduces the Magicka cost of your next spell by 80% after you drink a potion.
    - Determination
(Unlocks at The Lord Rank 120) Absorbs [x] damage for 15 seconds after drinking a potion.

This build is not gonna survive against top tier PVP players, duelers, or in DLC HMs, there are a lot more viable options out there for that, but it fits the theme and it works decent for casual PVP and PVE!
Dinosaur Chicken Nuggets - Argonian mNB Tank/Heals (PVP)
Strawberry Semifreddo - Dunmer mSorc DPS // Sunny D-Light - Breton mTemp Heals
Peanut Butter Sandwich - Orc sDK DPS // Kellogg's Frosted Flakes - Argonian mWard Tank/Heals (PVE)
    Cor-Leonis
    friendship - integrity - perseverance

@Kerioko You've posted a capable build. There are far more set combinations that do not activate "when drinking a potion" that could return better synergy results. I would suggest using the PTS to create a variety of potions and poisons to test how they can be used to activate different item set conditions. It's an public source that provides all the sets and resources for the build theory-crafting enthusiast.

Some sets, such as Seventh Legion, require a skill to activate the item set condition. Passives do not count; I am mentioning this example to encourage PTS testing to test desired interactions with alchemy consumables.

PTS (as far as I know) works similarly to Live. It would be nice to be able to 'switch on' the gear you'd need, my impression is that you experience the new patch. You will have to work for gear just like on Life. Unless I missed somethiing.

That is not correct. On PTS, when creating a new character, you have to look on the upper left side of the screen: For this patch you can select an lvl 1, lvl 25, or CP 810 template. The last one comes with all skill points, all skills unlocked, and all gear as well. So you can try out a lot of skills and builds.

And so the Elder Scrolls foretold. You will be shy, and I will be bold.

I've got fledgling characters on the PTS, was wondering if there were any options to tinker with them, but hadn't figured it out, .
I'll check it out this evening thanks!

Deltia has a build using Clever Alchemist that had some insane burst damage. Check out his website for the details. It's an older build, but the ideas are helpful.
