Since zenimax no longer does trades from the crown crate season the least they could do since it can cost upwards of 200 bucks for a apex mount and 500 for a radiant is if you get one of those rewards you choose one of them much like you choose between leveling rewards.

That's not really the point of radiant apex and apex mounts. They aren't intended to be consumer friendly in any way, shape, or form. They are purely intended to get you to spend a ton of money if you want them.

    $200? $500?

    Working as intended.

While I understand that it’s working as intended it’s ethically wrong. For something as expensive as these mounts and how rare it’s just wrong that if you were to even get lucky enough to have gotten one of them that your chances are cut into even lower RNG that it’s the one you wanted

Ever wondered why so many people hate those crates? Now you know.

Letting you choose would defeat the purpose as mentioned above by others. The crates are a means to make money, not a means to make players happy.

Of course its ethically wrong, from the viewpoint of customer satisfaction. Its pure profit at the expense of customers who really, really want an item enough to subject themselves to terrible RNG to get it. That's why ZOS does it.

But to be frank, the whole loot box system is ethically wrong. It doesn't just become wrong because you can't get the radiant apex mount you want without spending 100s of dollars, and it doesn't become right below the apex level. Radiant apex is just the cherry on top of the whole [snip] sundae.

Personally, I despise the entire crown crate system and have never bought one for gold or crowns.

Oh oh! I have an idea! How about they make more mounts, pets, costumes and pets periodically available in the Crown store for CROWNS, so people could actually buy the item they want? THAT would be awesome!

Can you expect to get a radiant apex after spending only a few hundred dollars? I always assumed it was in the thousands you’d have to spend to get one. (I have 10 or so apex mounts and no radiant).

Edit: not that ‘only hundreds of dollars’ isn’t a lot to spend on cosmetic pixels.

I dunno how expensive its expected to be, because ZOS hasn't ever released the official odds of getting a radiant apex mount. You can check the player-recorded odds online if you like.

I can't wait until the console providers start making companies release their official odds.

Would you be wiling to have a lower chance of getting an Apex mount if you could choose which one you will get?

Of course this is talking about a noticeably reduced chance of getting an Apex mount since I expect Zos figures in that some people want a specific type when they decide what the odds are. That is something that has to be taken into account.

You want this changed in any meaningful way to be better for the consumer? Then contact your local political representative and tell them about the ethics of loot boxes. Literally nothing else will cause a change for the better.

There was a period when this wasn't so bad. I saved over 400 gems solely from free crates (none of which were Twitch-related) and got exactly the mount I wanted (Psijic Exemplar Horse). That would take much, much, much longer now.

The only purpose of those mounts is to take advantage of people with a gambling problem, and it seems to work for them, I don't think they stop doing it.

How can you work for a company that does that and consider yourself a good person?

I get a chuckle every time a player tries to modify the rules of crown crates or crown gems ... to increase the odds of getting what they want.

In one shape or another, this very topic occupies about half of the thread subjects in the Crown Store & ESO+ subforums ...
