ZOS, could you please add crossbows?

No, not the fighter's guild skill. An actual craftable weapon: crossbows!

It could share the same skills as bows, the same way different 2h weapons do, but giving something unique to it. A skill line name change to "Archery" would be nice.

Ranger passive skill could add something new to bows and crossbows, like, for example:
  • Reduces the Stamina cost of Archery abilities by 15%. Increases Bow damage by 10%. Increases Crossbow attack speed by 15%.

    I think it's time we got a new weapon skill line (and not a "split" of an existing skill line as you suggest) and the "next" or "new" weapon should be magicka based.
    Magicka DD are stuck with ONE weapon skill line when stamina DDs have 3, so it's a bit out of balance.

    Looks to me that a crossbow would rather be a stamina driven weapon, but if ZOS can come up with some sort of "magicka crossbow", then why not.

    Normal bows for single target damage and crossbows for aoe - just like the difference between flame staves and lightening staves

    I think you mean the opposite. A crossbow packs a punch, difficult to load more than one bolt and even if you could and it didn't misfire they would likely all hit the same target. A bow is weaker in power but Hollywood has proven you can put three arrows on the string and they will hit all your targets (AOE), as far fetched as it is, it is possible to angle arrows while on the string.

    As for comments above asking for a new skill tree. Doubtful the whole push ATM is to make class skills the go to and everything else gap fillers. I doubt we'll see another tree any time soon, and honestly if we do, I hope it is very well thought out.

    What they could do is make a tanking weapon like an 'Alteration staff' and convert Ice Destro into a proper offensive staff.

    As someone with a disgusting number of stam characters... this guy's right. If we're getting more weapons, mag needs some love more than stam does.

    crossbows woumd allow for stamina or magicka morphs...e.g. flame or poison bolts etc....would be dope

    They had crossbows in previous TES games. Very slow reload times. You would be killed after taking your first shot.

    we have the same problem with snipe, that should not deter us from getting crossbows, just please speed up our cast times.

    Morrowind's crossbows had fixed damage, which capped out lower than bows, but allowed for a rapid first shot.

    Skyrim's crossbows had a long reload, but could be fired almost as soon as they were drawn.

    It does lead to a question: What should ESO's crossbows be about?

    Elemental damage? (Well, that would be weird, but it would be consistent with Skyrim, if not Morrowind.)

    Higher impact hits? (That would seriously mess up PvP. You'd be able to nuke people without warning.)

    Ranged CC? (That's something that seems to be phasing out with the Bow.)

    A ranged taunt? (Wait, maybe. Crossbow could work as a kind of ranged tank option.)

    So, maybe there's a role for them, it'd just be a little strange.

    Hell, I'd settle for ability altering weapons that swap Sword and Board, 2h, DW, and Bow to Magicka weapons, and change the damage types in those skill lines.
