Black dyes

Don't overlook Tier 5 Materials (Ebony), and Noxophilic Black. Ebony does dye some things pitch black, very nicely. Noxophilic is a little light, but it's also a reliable black that doesn't darken things to the point where you lose all detail.

    Noxilic looks great: https://esooutfitideas.wordpress.com/tag/noxophilic-black/

So I need to become a vampire, get the dye as reward, and then can get a cure if I don't want to play as vampire?

Yeah, though you may want to rank up to Vampire 10 first. Lamae White is really nice too.

EDIT: Also, if the vampire life isn't for you, try to remember to grab a snack every six hours and keep yourself at Stage 1. This will (functionally) disable any gameplay effects from your vampirism. The only down side is that you'll still look like a stage 1 vamp, (pale, red eyes, with traces of your original eye color.)

    thanks for the reply @starkerealm

I attech another image, showing a dark version of the clothes I showed earlieron.

The order of the hour breaches use coldharbour black at the inner leg side, and master brown at the outer vertical stripes.

The woodelf top also uses Master brown, as I wanted a glossy efect. Using coldharbour black looks not good in this case, as it looks very matte on this part.

So not black, but one of the mentioned "workarounds" for a glossy dark look.

all this just makes me confused on why there in no black thats actually black in the game 😂 cmon dude id even buy it with crowns

Which has been mentioned, there are several dyes in the game that is "actually black". This is a topic that comes up every now and then and every time I wonder what kind of black the people who are asking, is looking for.

When it comes to dyes there is more than one shade of black. Yes, as odd as it might sound, considering plenty of people just think of one when they hear the word. But there are different shades which you would still call black instead of grey, blue, brown etc. Especially when it comes to dyes in ESO, since there are different tones such as warm and cold, but also different finishes. Such as matte and glossy.
So if you're looking for a black dye, you need to be more specific, though I'd assume you're looking for the darkest ones.

    Which would be these:
Legate Black- A blue-ish aka cold black, with glossy finish.
Coldharbour Ash Black - A semi-matte warm black.

But there's also Noxophilic Black, Thalmor Black, Obsidian Black. All of them are black.
A lot depends on what look you're going for but most importantly, it depends on what costume/outfit style you're wearing.
Costumes and outfit styles can dye very differently in ESO. Some things dyes horribly and it won't matter how dark/light/saturated the dye is, it will dye badly on that thing. Other styles/costumes are like dye sponges and even a grey becomes black on them.
It's a bit frustrating that one of the major factors when it comes to dyeing equipment in ESO, is not the dyes, but what costume/style you have chosen, because they are not universal.

This reminds me. I love the Holiday in Balmora costume, but if you're buying it, do not plan on being able to dye the shirt the color you want. It has its own opinion of the color you just applied, and what you want is just a suggestion.

Holiday in Balmora is an egregious offender.

Common dyes tend to be more consistent, if, rather dull. Uncommon tend to be more vibrant, but still trend towards a consistent colors.

The material tiers (along with Divine Gold and Antique Silver) are completely variable, and will alter based on the material type (metal/cloth/leather) they're used on. This is extremely pronounced with Tier 4 (Dwemer), and Tier 1 (Iron), where the colors will be radically different on different materials. (Dwemer will go from a dull gold on metal, to purple on cloth and leather.)

Rare dyes tend to be, "unique," in some way. Most of the time, this is an iridescent effect of some variety. Transliminal Violet is an excellent example of this, as it will vary between a vibrant purple and metallic gold. In the case of Coldharbour Ash Black, the special effect is how it mattes out, nearly, everything it's applied to.

What all this means is, even if dyes look like they should be similar colors, they can behave in radically different ways. At that point, the important thing to keep track of is what that specific dye will do. This is more important with Rare and multi-color dyes than it is with Commons and Uncommons.

I just settle on Voidstone Violet or Viridian Venom.

(Voidstone violet may not be a black dye but wait until it gets dark in the game, people who have it will know...)
If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

I prefer the Noxophilic black over the legate the Legate one looks more like gimp suit leathery/latex black (except if you're going for that look)

ill check that one out too thanks :)

Noxo is very blue on plate.

Legate black is the best, my favorite reward I've ever earned in this game.

I really like the Coldharbor Ash black, imo its the best one. Nice and dark but not so black that your armor loses details.

Which of the black dyes is the darkest/looks the darkest on armor? I know of Legate black but thats locked behind more zerg running than I want to handle :D so what's the second best option?

Coldharbour is the blackest black I have. Waaay more dark than the others and seems to make most armour actually black, or at the very least much darker.

I vote Coldharbour too. Although it's just too dark for me sometimes so I also use Charcoal or Onyx if I want the details on the textures to be more visible.

I want a black so dark it looks like players characters on startup in a zone with a slow internet connection. A complete absence of light and color.

Legate is nice. Going to take a lot of PvP to get it though. I consider myself a casual player. Mostly solo. Took me several months to get to Legate.
