Now that Sony has announced that they officially supporting Cross play between PS4, Xbox and PC platforms on any game using their services, when will ESO support the platform cross-play they originally not aimed to?

I don't think it will happen ( at least not this game )

I can see Console player already complaining getting killed from PC users, I'm not sure how PVP works with a controller but I could imaging the rotation movement will be slower than that of someone using a mouse, unless you can up the sensitivity

    Just my input

I good console player could still easily kill a bad pc player even a decent pc player the problem will boil down to competitive pvp I can already hear the salty tears lol 😂

Sure, a good console player can beat a bad / decent pc player when there is equal ground. But, you also have to account for console's:

30fps, controller input lag, server lag which is already more of an issue (if forums are truthful) than PC. So, doing a cross-platform with console and PC, automatically places console at a greater disadvantage from just a few things and that is accounting for walmart potato pc specials.

PS with XBox is fine, and great for them, but trying to add PC into the mix would open the flood gates.

The servers can barely handle their respective paltform populations as is, allowing cross platform play would only make things worse. So no, I don't see cross platform being supported anytime in the near future.

I’ve played many games both on PC and on console, and this common misconception about PC players having such a large advantage over console players is simply not true. And especially not here where we have global cooldowns and such.

On topic though, I can’t see PC and console crossplay ever being a thing in ESO, maybe next console gen but not now!

I can provide some insight to that. In PvE, even end game PvP, controller is ok. However in PvP it is a completely different story. This game has an inbuilt aimbot but unless you are excellent FPS player on a console, you will have difficulties with aiming. As for rotation and weaving I personally found it a little easier since gamepad is more ergonomic. At least my Razer Raiju.

If we add console players to PC population, there will be some issues.

From what I've heard in PvE console players are unable to measure their dps as good as PC players which means that we would get an influz of very bad DDs.

In PvP we would get a lot of players who can't aim since controller is limiting them.

In both PvP and PvE console players would have a huge disadvantage in the form of much lower performance of their system. Lower fps is a disadvantage.

I doubt it will happen but as a console player that went to PC and still uses controller. The difference is only noticeable vs the top tier players. They can track a little better with channeled skills in certain movements. However you can quickly adjust to counter them once you see that they can react a little faster.

Everything else feels exactly the same.

Cross-platform makes (some) sense for multiplayer games with lobbies, or small-scale co-op, or boardgames, etc...

For an MMO that's already been going for years, that has separate servers for each of those platforms - why (and how) would you try to make that cross-platform?

Oh hell no! Please, no, not ever.

They should separate the ESO forums by platform too.

ESO was designed to be played on PC. Catering to the kids on their game boxes only causes problems for the rest of us.

cant happen wont happen, ESO has to much Fluid code and also need the ability to be able to "hotfix" at the moment Xbox does not allow any changes to be made without them being certified as safe (thats why consoles get patchs 2-3weeks after PC) also PC runs at almost double the FPS of consoles so would either need to *** the FPS for PC to make PvP fair or up the FPS for console neither is likely to happen

Sounds like a ZOS issue alone, and not a cross-platform feature issue if the servers can't handle having more players.

It's almost as if we don't want a multiplayer game to be populated to actually be playable.

Well, Destiny 2 uses a Cross Save too, and has PvP. You don't play on the same servers as the other platform, but can use the same character on both with shared progress.

Would love a similiar thing on ESO, since I own the game on PC and PS4 (bought it used for 3 bucks, couldn't resist). But i'm playing only on PC actually.

Sony have said that the platform is now fully able to support crossplay (it already was), but it is up to them which games they will allow to use the feature, so not all games will be crossplay. I very much doubt that ESO will make the cut.

Also like I said not this game, Think about to duplicate names that could occur on each platform

What if you have 3 people with the name "Sorc KIller" all 3 wouldn't be able to use the name since each one wouldn't be unique, same way they cycle EU/NA on PTS to stop this from happening

As nice as cross platform play would be, that ship has sailed. No way to combine the 3, rather 6, separate databases into one instance.

For one, there is duplication of account names already from the console launch. Two, there are character names to consider. Three, addons. Four, no keyboard and mouse for consoles.

Even if they were not to combine databases but somehow get the populations to somehow interact, the performance issues inherent in the consoles would give an insurmountable advantage to the PC players.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

You're asking too much of ZOS, they can't even run an event without the servers dying.

Besides game performance I would only like crossplay if it was between consoles. I can't even play SMITE much anymore because I can't compete with PC players (the crossplay option is broken and stuck to playing with everyone).
    PvP needs more love.

They might do it. Can't see a reason why not honestly it would simplify their server infrastructure after they finish updating everything.

The downside is consoles have a different economy. Trying to merge those databases and choosing which group to force name changes on would be a very real challenge.

Like most things in life.. its not as simple as "Sony allows it so DO IT NOW!".
