PS4 controller not working in combat

Up until this morning no problems with this controller. Tested it out and its working with other games. it works with ESO but NOT when entering combat. none of the combat buttons functions when in combat or to initiate combat. Tried restarting game. restarting PS4. repairing controller with console. reset controller with hidden button. Not sure what else to try.

for anyone else suddenly having this problem: I just figured out that for some reason all my combat slots and reverted to contain nothing. re-slot and all seems a-OK.
