No, I am running a pretty basic setup 1pirate skele/1lord warden 5 shackle 3 agility 2 endurance. Using a 2h dot build. And I can still get a top score on battlegrounds pretty easy. Once that's impossible without running meta I will agree with you, but for now I feel that a good player who is familiar with their class will always outplay a meta chaser.
    PvP needs more love.

LOL is not really a good comparison. It was designed to be a MOBA (even though it still is simplistic af as a MOBA). There is no skill choice in LoL and gear is pretty meta dictated + round oriented. The skill cap for the game is extremely low for combat. A lot of the difficulty that comes with league is situational awareness and your ability to farm while managing other things. If you’re a lord of efficient PVE you’ll end up doing well in league because the game is literally 3 skills 1 ulti ffs. Sure, 2 spells on long af CD and let’s be honest, typically boring af gear actives. Friend dropped me a level 30 LOL account back in the days and told me it ain’t that easy to climb to gold. Boom, platinum in a week, diamond in one more, next week bye bye. Ez pz and boring af.

I am not saying LoL requires 0 skill or has absolutely no customization available, but it really doesn’t hold a candle against MMORPGs like ESO.

Does League of Legends feature large scale AvAvA battles where the server lags, skills don't fire, and players crash left and right when trying to join in the fight?

I'd guess that LOL and ESO do share ar least one similarity: premade teams that work together and communicate via voice comms usually do pretty well compared to disorganized groups.

Yes. From a balance perspective they follow the same philosophies. They balance more towards the top tier of players and for the league championships teams then they do casual players which has in turn led the game down a more meta path. Both games had very defined class identities at the beginning of their lives and the use of varying item set ups in league led to a variety of lane choices and ways to begin matches and build the same way armor sets work in mmos. You can concentrate on boosting different stats or focus on different skills to define your character in the lane/role you plan on specializing in. Later patches in league saw lanes and items being simplified and homogenized in the name of faster more spectacular games vs the long drawn out more strategic games. This is similar with eso classes, racials, skills, and armor sets being more homogenized in the name of class balance and trying to hit certain metrics. League saw constant balance issues, most of their own making as well as ignoring player feedback about character reworks that turned out less than desirable which is again in line with how eso has operated for a good while now.

Idc if you believe me lmao. I played my friend’s acc to plat from gold in a week. I didn’t say I just started LoL for the first time. I played it back in the days s1/s2 when it wasn’t this popular/big yet but didn’t really like it and honestly prefer dota. Overall, still not the biggest moba lover. I still remember back in the days where being plat meant something, but hitting plat now is much easier. (Oh yeah, I guess from my wording it did seem like I started an unranked account and hit plat in a week. No, my friend gave me his gold account lol, and I do have prior experience even when the game got massive overhauls.)

In fact, thanks for the compliment. I guess sometimes you’re just so damn good that people find it hard to believe. :D
