Dual wield primary and secondary weapon importance

Hello peeps, probably a supid question but I need to know. I've always been using dual dagger nightblade build, but recently I found quite a nice one with an ax and a dagger. The tutorial explicitly said that the axe should be in primary slot and the dagger in a secondary. Does it really make much difference? I'd prefer to hold the axe in my off hand as it just look better. And do axes really make that much of a difference over daggers in a build like that?

It is important for a nirnhoned weapon to be in the main hand. I don't know why it would matter where you put an axe. Maybe the axe was nirnhoned in that build?

Ok, it was nirnhoned. Why is it important?

Because the game treats them different. Additive would be OP. Thats why there is Dual Wield Expert passive.

You get more damage with your main hand. The axe comes with bleeds when paired with nirnhoned will up your overall damage. This change is similar to how PVE DW builds were before Summerset, well, at least the DW portion.
