Help for people who have trouble with steam/don't like launching through steam in general

Step one: go to the website, and click "login through steam" and make sure you have and ID/password you can sign in with so you can sign into the website without clicking that link. (sorry if this sounds kinda confusing)

step two: go to where steam is installed. go to "steamapps"> "common">"zenimax">"launcher"

find Bethesda.net_Launcher and run as admin

you should now after loading have a prompt to input an ID and password.

Hopefully this helps, steam can be very frustrating

Tried it, works fine. Thanks for the tip.

I'm wondering how it'll fare during one of Steams outages.

I created my eso account on steam when I bought Eso there. I just use the launcher from eso website to play. Never play through steam anymore.

it doesn't work for accounts created after a certain date. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/5586932/#Comment_5586932

oh you get the proper login screen all right, in fact, its what i use to log into my regular account (because otherwise, i'd have to have 2 different installs of the game on the same computer, and that's just silly IMO)

however, when i try to log in with credentials from my steam account? yes, i'm using the same credentials as you'd use to log into your account on https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/ which i HAVE created, and it gives me an account error.

You have to buy the base game from Bethesda and then the Eso launcher found in the steam folder will work.

yeah, you have to pay 10 extra dollars for a fresh copy (on sale, or $20 if sale is not active).. which is something you said NOTHING about in your original post. as your original guide goes? without extra purchases, it ONLY works for accounts made before the date in my link.

and if you buy that copy, you don't need to bother with your guide at all, as you can just install the game directly from the ESO website and launch as normal.

Steam will sometimes have outages where ESO players can't log in.
