Buff Snipe

Don’t get me wrong I like sniping and think it’s a valid play style but we need to make it more like a snipe
Less like a spammable, glitchy mediocre damage skill

So first I think that it needs a MAJOR damage buff (to make it more like a proper snipe) but I think it should have a longer cast time to balance. Basically so you can’t stack snipes before the 1st one lands.
It should be a high damage, long range, and precision skill that can kill a player very fast. Not something that you stack in midair on 1 target.

For the salty ones here are some counters to snipe:
-dodge roll (it’s super effective!)
-cloak
-damage shields
-block

Any other ideas on making snipe a proper sniping tool?

    This is going to be fun. I predict the buff version will be more entertaining than the balance version.

    Edit: I would actually like to see a small buff so more people use it. Aside from catching somebody looking at the crown store, there is nothing more satisfying than the sight of a player popping into visibility with that archer animation. It's like an AP gift falling from the sky.

    Properly applied with other skills and LA, snipes can already hit very hard. Seems like you are advocating for a one shot snipe which wouldnt be healthy for this MMO.

    As someone with 3 of his 5 PvP chars being NB, and 4 of 5 being bow users on at least one bar, I vote a big no to buffing it in a vacuum.

    It is a solid option as is with clear pros and cons to spending a bar slot on (I use it on one NB for example). Buffing it risks it becoming a must have skill.

    P.s. all of your counters are predicated on seeing the already hard hitting combination of snipe/PI/LA coming.

    A major damage buff would allow for near or actual one hits, that none of your counters would really address.

    What? Don’t think this skill is OP atm. Sure, it deals more damage than most spammable but it has 1s cast time. Don’t see why this skill should be deleted just cause some people use it to finish off their ganks and you got no clue how to react.

    Also what are you talking about ? I have no clue how to react?!? Lol I heal myself and others while laughing at snipers currently on live.
    My point is most snipers stand off to the side with a buddy while a good fight going on and mindlessly spam 1 button thinking they're good while ruining/influencing the fight. As I say it doesn't incentivize skillful gameplay. I should know i opened with snipe and finished with 2hd in melee for my first 3 years playing.
    The skill is trash and mostly used by bad players...

    Arrows are lethal irl. Imagine a long bullet. Not gunna go into deets but I can’t imagine any1 enjoying spamming abilities

    Nope. One shot kills dont belong to this game. While in the past snipe needed to be one shot kill because it was the only way to kill anyone with bow and while currently its not that much better at least the arsenal of ranged abilities grew. The only buffs snipe needed from day one were abilities to support its killing potential (think what curse/endless fury are to frag).

    I can see what you mean. I wouldn’t want it to be a must have skill. but I think it should be a more tactical skill. Snipe builds rn can never kill an average enemy with 1 snipe. It may be controversial but I think snipers should be able to. (On super squish builds) the elsweyr change basically made it so you could stack snipes over and over but with less damage, resulting in the same dps but lower burst potential. Think about it. Sniper should be able to pick of targets quickly, from long range. This does not mean 2-3 snipes and silver leash/PI
    A few other ideas that I had to give insight.
    -Increase damage depending on range
    -increase damage when out of combat (so 1st target is hit super hard)


    And yes, the counters that I listed are only for those who know they are being sniped, you can still see the projectile if you are perceptive.

    But by increasing cast and travel times, but also increasing damage, you would get a much better skill for stealthy kills, but would make it easier to dodge. If you see it coming

    I just want snipe to be a snipe and not a spammable that you have to hit multiple times to get any damage

    Ok people are getting confused. I don’t mean to say that snipe should be a 1 shot (like just a 30k snipe on your recap) more like a higher damage but lower spammy version of now. While a 1 shot would be fun (for a while) I’m mainly wanting snipe to reliably kill almost any1 without multiple snipes

    Eg. Snipe-la-silver leash = kill
    Cuz rn it takes 2 or more snipes which often means that you fail because of lag and the obvious counters. Look at pre elsweyr snipe. Most didn’t need 2-3 snipes.
    Hit 1 snipe per combo is what I ment

    The kind of change that I’m wanting is a maybe a 30% damage buff, followed by a 1.5 sec cast time. Also I think travel time should be reduced to pre elsweyr

    Sorry il give more examples of instant kill combos that take very few hits:

    Incap-relentless
    Dizzy swing-leap/dbos
    Dizzy swing-sub assault-dbos
    Potl-jab spam
    Necro ult
    Bash Necro
    Zerg bombing
    Onslaught + literally anything
    Magplar existing
    30+ players using all of the above on 1 player

    Taking all of these into account, is a 20-30% snipe buff(but increasing cast time to stop spam) that bad?

    Actually opposite of what needs to happen. Cast time needs to be reduced to like .5 or .8 seconds and the self snare removed. Perhaps lower its damage a little but flatten its arc and lower its travel time to help with desync and make it useful for skirmisher bow builds so the skill is useful for classes other than gankblades. Rename it power shot or something. Delete volley or arrow spray and give the bow line some utility skill that synergizes with it in both pve and pvp.

    This idea is interesting. Would make bow main builds better for pvp. Maybe 1 morph could have a shorter cast and more mobility while the other would be for ganking


    Also just gunna say for the people on here to entertain themselves. Duck off. I am trying to make snipe a more viable skill and trying to throw around ideas with other serious individuals like the player above.
